Hi All,

I'm stuck and in need of some help. I have a leaky French style kitchen mixer tap that requires replacement rubber washers.
Believe the tap is likely as old as the kitchen extension, circa 20 years.

I've searched the internet high and low, but the style of rubber washer I require doesn't seem to exist. Attached is a picture of the tap and my estimate of the dimensions of the rubber washers.

Based on measuring the tap width, grooves etc & previous washer sizes, I believe I need something with dimensions similar to:
  • Outer Diameter (OD) 17mm
  • Internal Diameter (ID) 14mm
  • OD minus ID = 3mm or 1.5mm wide
  • Thickness 2.5mm

Any help to track down a washer that solves the leak would be much appreciated!

Thanks

Best advice is to take it into your local friendly plumbers merchants, show them what you’ve got. They’ll produce a big box full of washers and o-rings... something is bound to fit.
good luck

If you get stuck, I know an engineer who knows the name of a specialist mail order O ring firm. Minimum order is £10, so you'll end up with a large number.

Thanks guys.

Took the tap to a local shop. The shop wasn't confident they'd work, but gave me a couple of o-rings to try (size was 14mm ID x 2mm). Seem to fit ok, stopped the leak and tightened up some flex in the tap. Hopefully lasts :)
