Hi
I need to replace both hot/cold taps as they have done 20 years service, I looked at various sites and the thread size is quoted as "G1/2" now the dumb bit, is this referring to the copper pipe size thats fits into the tap or is it the external thread size f the tap.
Thanks for any info.

1. It is the external thread size of the tap.. "G1/2" is 1/2" British Standard Parallel Pipe. This has a major (over the threads) size of about 21 mm (0.825").
2. These are normally connected to copper pipe with a tap connector, which will have a 1/2" BSP female thread at one end, and a compression or capillary soldered connection at the other end for 15 mm pipe. A fibre washer provides the seal between the tap connector and the end of the tap's threaded shank.
3. The above assumes you have separate hot and cold taps or a bridge mixer tap. If you have a monobloc mixer tap it is likely to come with flexible hoses or copper tails which may have a different termination.

Hi, Can anyone advise as to why the cold water to my bathroom keeps airlocking? This originally happened about 12 months ago and has happened 3-4 times since. It’s an upstairs bathroom, fed from a tank in the attic. The tank is about 8 Meters away and feeds a bath, sink and toilet. The tank...

We run a community village hall and have a large kitchen provided for the use of hirers. This includes a Lincat SLR9 gas cooker which I believe is a 23.8Kw appliance with all six burners and oven on max. This was installed some 10 years ago and has passed all subsequent Gas Safety inspections as...
