I

trying to remove the aerator on the mixer tap in my bath. No obvious means to remove it, it's a male connector and is flush with the tap. No obvious notch to insert a screwdriver in. Have tried some needle nose pliers on it but any more force will break the spokes. Some bad pictures to show you what I mean:

Thanks,
Ed

No obviously. Will try photos again.
Won't allow me to post a image
thanks,
Ed

why remove something that is designed to be there? it helps mix the hot n cold to stop you getting scalded

then the post would be, how do I unblock my mixer outlet?

Problem is the general public don`t always approach things in a logical way, how many times you been told one thing over the phone only to find the problem is different.

normally get told exactly whats wrong according to a; the servicing guide or b; their mate down the pub knows or c; it isnt rocket science and is the following.......... :)

Many of the cheapo taps have pressed in aerators, they usually come out easily. Not necessarily in one piece though.

Am I`m right in thinking that should it break you can buy a new one?

If it's a cheap tap, I wouldn't waste my time trying to source an aerator.

Thats fair enough but I thought I read that they can be brought, just can`t remember where.

They probably can be bought but more likely off the interweb nowadays.
I'd rather have my legs waxed than spend time on t'web buying a 50p item for an elderly tap.

I'm really sorry for my previous reply. I came across like a right idiot - "no obviously" was meant to be "not obviously", as I can't see how to unscrew it. I want to remove it to clean it and give it a proper descale, it's nearly totally blocked.
Apologetically,
Ed

pair of grips pn the end of the outlet normally unscrews them or as mentioned tap tap tap and its cleared

It only limescale so if it was me I`d start by unblocking the holes as best you can even if its with a small nail and a small hammer then use Gel-Kilrock which comes with it`s own brush. Kilrock is strong stuff so have an old tea towel under the tap to catch any drips. This may take more than one application though.

I have a plumber coming tomorrow to change a cartridge on a badly dripping tap on my bathroom mixer unit. There is no separate isolating valve for this tap so I'll have to close the stopcock. I tried closing it today but it won't go absolutely 100% closed and there is still a very slight flow...

Hi, Can anyone advise as to why the cold water to my bathroom keeps airlocking? This originally happened about 12 months ago and has happened 3-4 times since. It’s an upstairs bathroom, fed from a tank in the attic. The tank is about 8 Meters away and feeds a bath, sink and toilet. The tank...

Hi, basic question, any insight much appreciated. Looking to have an outdoor tap in my front porch fed from 15mm pex coming up from suspended floor. Pic 1 is inside porch, pex temporarily clipped to give an idea of pipe placement (ignore shoddy blockwork of booted cowboy builder!), Pic 2 is...
