Groaning Expansion Vessel

The tundish near the expansion vessel started dripping, plumber came and pumped up expansion vessel and dripping stopped, great.

However now, every time we flush any of the loos we get a strange heavy vibration noise through the expansion vessel for 1-2 seconds. We also recently discovered it’s worse when turning the outside hose on and off. Attached is a video of me turning the hose on and off in order to reproduce the noise for your lovely ears.

Plumber isn’t really sure, does seem like a water pressure issue. Any help is appreciated.

Non return valve failed possibly.
Also did he make sure the vessel is properly anchored back to fixing bracket.

It feels pretty secure when I try to rock it.

Would you expect ‘some’ vibration?

Is the non-return valve the one in the middle?

Too much pressure in the expansion vessel. Needs to be 0.2 bar below incoming pressure, sometimes i've had to do them lower than that to stop groaning etc.

Get your G3 engineer back to check incoming pressure and set accordingly. Don't forget system has to be depressurised to get correct setting on expansion vessel.

Its not exactly technical but there is a correct sequence to check a vessel , if hes just pumped it up its wrong .

Yeah he just pumped it to (if I remember) 3 bar. Sounds like I need to get a new plumber.

Did he drain and remove the vessel ? Agree with evil have set them at 2 bar to stop water hammer thump . Kop

So this is a common problem (water hammer thump) caused by any over charged vessel?
