 have a ongoing problem with water gushing out of the overflow pipe in the bath (the bit the plug hangs off) first thing in the morning the water while the water is being heated hot water runs from it then the water comes out cold after a while. It also sounds like my cold water tank is constantly filling up, This is appears to be causing a problem with the shower it appears to take a while for the water to start running (but once it is running its fine) I have checked for leaks etc but there is nothing. I recently had the heating element changed and this seemed to solve the problem for a couple of weeks. Can anyone help.

Try putting a new ball valve in the domestic hot water supply tank!
