Got me copy of gas safe this morning and couldnt find anything of interest in there for all the adverts................. Discuss

Bit unfair me thinks

It has a 32 page rip out directory of ACS and what assessments centres they carry out ,always handy,say if you are on holiday in say,south wales and its raining for a few days,you can look up local center a squeeze in a assessment or two,you can always find a topic that needs covering
Also have one of the rubber feet missing on the back of my lap top and found directory if folded in two just the right thickness to stop wobble

moving on we have 34 pages left..15.5 ads ... leaving ...18.5

Letters page.. always a good read

Bloke winging about £11 charge for new card and how it has effected his business cash flow,luckily for him in reply gas safe say they know that value for money is very important to engineers !,maybe so but there is no way I am dropping my rates,to give the same value for money principal to my customers

There is the same monthly registration for appliances letter ,with the words changed around

Letter on green homes and how a wind farm closed down,due to droning sound disturbing local MP,sorry mean making people ill,don't know if it makes them ill or just sick of sound

and a new website opened up by he government

so you can suggest red tape and laws that can be removed,this is a fantastic opportunity apparently to air your views and not realise you are being ignored....fill your boots..

Then we move on he the good the bad and the ugly,being a visual person,do like a good eye spy and not to be disappointed ,I can view sooty boilers,cavity insulation filling vents,some corroded copper pipe,a corroded flue,with big hole in it,taped up with earth coded insulation tape or maybe some new part 'P' reg

Basically this is carrying on from the e mail most had last week from corgi saying get logo off vans,see BG have now stuck gas safe over corgi logo on older vans,now the big boys have sorted themselves out,can attack the little people
So now giving away gas safe templets for stationary ect,great ,like to see,I copied and pasted a long time ago
Message is corgi registration is dead,get rid and we are the new kiddies
reiterated apparently by

Section 8d of the rules of Registration...

'You must not,by using any other gas membership scheme name,brand or logo in relation to gas work,cause confusion in relation to Gas Safe Register,or otherwise risk gas safety' ....oooh

Thats another 5 informative pages covered,still leaving another 13.5 pages to get through !!!

Taking on board all of the above, I still find it a waste of trees. Way to many adverts for my liking. I'd love to know how much they make on advertising cos I'm sure it more than covers the cost of the publication.

I'd rather they send me an email with the relevant info and articles which would only cover a few pages once the glossy backgrounds and pics are removed and a smaller font applied.

Corgi used to get grief as it was felt there business side with insurances etc was taking the emphasis away from gas safety. So why are we being made to look at all this crap, it's a magazine for gas engineers, so tell me what I need to know and if they need to profit from annoying advertising then simply put a glossy advertising book in the packaging which I can simply pass to the recycle bin.

Wow, a directory of ACS centres. A one minute google search would tell me where they are in my area. Hardly front page news.

Hi Puddle

I have to agree that, that was an excellent summary, and I feel that if you could do that monthly for me, it would be very much appreciated, That way I wouldnt get side tracked with all the adds saving me loads of valuable drinking time.

i get the mag when they can be bothered to send it

only part i read is the bodges page which takes me 10 mins to read

its an ok mag but mainly saying we are gonna catch the illegals and thats about it really.
