Hi there
I'm new here and struggling with a renovation so really hoping one of you who deals with gas pipes and heating can help.

I am having my gas meter moved and at the same time SGN are renewing the pipe from the new connection to the road. They will insert a polypipe into the original steel pipe reducing the diameter from 1.25 inch to 25mm.

I am concerned that the reduction in size will impact on the supply to my house? Does anyone have any knowledge about this?

My builder has asked to find out from SGN if the meter will be able to operate at full capacity. Is this enough?

Am worried the the lower gas supply from my pipe will mean boiler won't be as efficient etc.

You comments gratefully received!

SGN wouldn't do the insert if they weren't confident of it working.
They've probably done it tens of thousands of times.
If there is an issue they would sort it out.

Pressures in this pipe are much higher than after the meter so there is no valid comparison with flows in same size pipe in the house.
