Good afternoon all,

i'm in the process of converting a downstairs porch into a downstairs WC and have a slight snag.

My dilemma is that inside the property is a gas pipe in the corner that sticks out and will be right in the way of a) the studwork being put in and b) the floor insulation!

My problem is that BCO wants timber a frame to be created inside the porch and the floor will rise to the DPC (floating floor) (1 inch above the gas pipe) On the down side, my BCO has told me he won't get involved with gas and leave it to a plumber to decide what to do. More or less 75% of the pipework would be covered by the studwork, assuming I can be very creative with my notching.

My current thoughts are to build a ply box for that corner of the room (6" by 9" or so), attach it to the wall then build the stud walls around it , perhaps with some screw protection (metal lining?) and then for extra security replace one of the bricks with a vent brick - just encase of leaks. Technically the pipe will not be accessible and I figure I can pop some insulation ontop with some form of decorative step - to avoid a cold spot.

Can I ask you dear folk if i'm a mad man or if there's a simple solution

Any help, appreciated.

You're over thinking this one. Is it even live?
Yes! Freshly installed last week.

My overthinking is partly as a result of my BCO.

I have a 2x1m brick porch and i'm having to put in a timber frame, sheething, breather membrane and the kitchen sink. Must have gotten on their bad side though I tried to be nice haha.

Main concern is the final structure passing regs - or at least advising regs that it's allowable under gas regs.

There's about 3 soldered joints under the wrap and given they are forcing me to make a cavity wall system i'm assuming I need to make a compartment to separate this from the cavity space. Bit of a pain they didn't put sheathing on it I guess.

Hello all, I'm would like to extend an existing outside tap to another point in the garden. I'm about to pour a concrete patio and was hoping to run the water line underneath. There are existing drain (and who knows what) pipes running along the same wall so I'm nervous about digging too far...
