Hey when fitting a tap supplied with flexis with a 1/2 female end. Do people screw them on to a iso valve or a male coupler 15mm x 1/2. I have used iso valves in the past but hear your not meant to as it doesn't have a flat surface for the washer to sit on.

People do but your not ment to toolstation do a handy converter or a standard half inch converter is Bob on

So you should really use one of these; Male Coupler 15mm x ½" | Compression Coupling | NoLinkingToThis

I've always gone straight on bally!

We've done housing estates like that and never an issue.

So have I sometimes filing down the thread on the service valve to give a flatter service. Is the fitting have put the link to the fitting your meant to use though? Giving a flat surface for the washer

Yes you should really go on to the correct fitting if your going by the book.

I always flatten off the top of the valve with a diamond file I like to have a flatish surface for the rubber washer to seat on gives me piece of mind

I go to a few of these a week where the washer in the flexi has deteriorated and failed when installed straight onto an isolator.
15mm to 1/2 inch male iron is by far the better way of doing it. I've never seen one fail.

I always use a 1/2" male iron - never thought of using a rad valve tail!

Thanks and is that the correct fitting?

Yep that is the correct fitting you can obviously get it in all different types

End feed
Compression
Speed fit
etc etc

it's a male iron with a flat face to make a good seal.

Hi, basic question, any insight much appreciated. Looking to have an outdoor tap in my front porch fed from 15mm pex coming up from suspended floor. Pic 1 is inside porch, pex temporarily clipped to give an idea of pipe placement (ignore shoddy blockwork of booted cowboy builder!), Pic 2 is...
