Hello all

I have recently moved in to a property that was vacant for 2yrs. After spending £600 having a service, replacement hot water flow switch, pump valves, top up valve, oil pump, solenoid actuator and several weeks of the engineer coming back and forth before we got any heating, it worked for about 2 weeks! Oil was at 300litres so decided to get it topped up, it worked intermittently for 24hrs and has not completely packed in. My house is like a building site, all I want is a little warmth....please help before I run my car over the evil thing!

Thanks in desperate anticipation.

Put up a location and someone on here maybe nearby to help out.

dont use your original plumber, seems like he did everything but change the filters on the oil line, which might have helped in the first place!

And there you have it. That once in a lifetime occurrence where me and him agree.

Which means we're right.

sometimes your sarcasm goes too far, after all you are agreeing with my opinion. Occasionally, therefore you get things right :)

If heating oil gauge is old tankmaster Mk 1 then filters unavailable. New Mk2 required. Smaller bowl. No need to empty tank as Mk2 body fits old Mk1 part that enters tank. This maybe why filter not changed. Blow through oil line also recommended if old filter corroded in bowl.

Another thing - if the boiler is higher than the tank, one of the joints might be leaking and allowing air into the oil pipe. Also tank should be checked for water (especially after all this rain we have been having). Get a different engineer who knows what they are doing!

Hi, Can anyone advise as to why the cold water to my bathroom keeps airlocking? This originally happened about 12 months ago and has happened 3-4 times since. It’s an upstairs bathroom, fed from a tank in the attic. The tank is about 8 Meters away and feeds a bath, sink and toilet. The tank...

Every two weeks or so I have to go and top up the system because the hot taps are running cold. Boiler display is flashing 0.6 bar and I fill up to 1.3. I've had an engineer look inside the boiler and he can't see anything wrong. I've checked the pipes all over the house and cannot see any...

Ideal Logic 24, Previous problem was that the hot water was only cold or barely warm if the heating was in use. If heating was off and boiler cold then would get hot water most of the time. Changing the flow cartridge about 2 years ago (when I moved in) solved this problem enough to suffer it as...

We run a community village hall and have a large kitchen provided for the use of hirers. This includes a Lincat SLR9 gas cooker which I believe is a 23.8Kw appliance with all six burners and oven on max. This was installed some 10 years ago and has passed all subsequent Gas Safety inspections as...
