Expanding foam around pipes?

Hi all, I really hope I can get an answer from you lovely people!

I currently have a bit of a mouse problem, and it seems that they are getting in to the cupboard under my kitchen sink through the hole where my hot and cold water pipes enter the cupboard from under the floor, or where the waste pipe exits.

Would there be any issue in putting expanding foam into the holes around the pipes to block their entry?

No but they will eat the foam

People house I once lived in had used the stainless steel scourer pads to fill around some pipes. This seemed to work, and if covered with foam, might be made to look tidy. I doubt they have the persistence to chew through stainless pads.

In fairness, mice, unlike rats, are opportunists, so the idea isn't completely bonkers. As Shaun says, the mice could eat the foam, but on the other hand they may not be determined enough.

Remove the food source first. Thoroughly.
They only come because they are being fed.
Access and trapping are what most people jump to first, but if food is available they will just keep coming.

If they are forcing an entrance, I agree, if not, then I don't. Based on own experience of mice coming into the house when I had bricks removed from outer skin of cavity wall - they nosed around the floor void where there was absolutely no food.
