Hello

I've now had my Intergas Xclusive 24 installed and a very fine job the engineer made of it, very good, neat pipe work

Evohome/Evotouch controller with a Wireless OpenTherm Bridge (R8810A) providing boiler schedule control

Q - during setting up the daily/weekly schedule it occurred to me 'how do I program a boiler 'Stop command' at the end of a day or it could be at some point during a day??!! - the way I solved the problem is to program in a low temperature of say 10'C (so boiler does not fire-up unless a HR92 TVR experiences 10'C temp) - is this the only way of doing it - the mind boggles ...joe

Joe,

That is the correct way to configure it. Evohome works on a 24/7 basis against preset room temperatures.

Be aware that even when the Evohome Control Unit is set to “Heating Off” - it is not! If a manual change is made to any of the HR 91 valves that may trigger a call for heat and fire the boiler. That call for heat will only be cancelled when either the room is up to temperature or the next set point is reached. When in “heating off” mode the next set point is never reached, so the room (zone) temperature is held 24/7. Unlikely to be an issue in the summer, but it can be at cooler times of the year if the house is empty.

To switch off, it is preferable to use economy mode - so any manual changes at the HR91valves are cancelled when the next set point is reached.

Hello Brambles

Not sure if I quite follow - ''When in “heating off” mode the next set point is never reached, so the room (zone) temperature is held 24/7. Unlikely to be an issue in the summer, but it can be at cooler times of the year if the house is empty.'' & ''To switch off, it is preferable to use economy mode ''

How do I enter economy mode?

Another point is when I go on me Hols - how best to shutdown CH/DHW control from the evohome controller - apart from switching off power ...joe

Go to the main screen on the controller. Touch the screen, a new screen appears. Touch the top left hand square “Quick Actions” new screen appears where you can select Economy, Away (Holiday), day off, heating off or custom.

I would not recommend switching the power off to the controller for a prolonged time. You will loose Evohome Frost Protection, the HR91’s are programmed to open and close at least once every 24 hours to prevent sticking and it will impact the optimisation process / memory.

if you want to prevent the quirk of a manual adjustment of an HR91 overriding “Heating Off” - the HR91 (any or all) can be configured so that it will not respond to manual adjustments.

If you want to see the quick in action, in the warmer weather set heating to off and then set one HR91 to 25 degrees - the system will keep the room at 25 degrees and above forever - or until you adjust the value or turn the programmed heating back on. It is generally only an issue with children or cold teenagers.

Does that answer your points?
