I have an immersion heater Newlec NL27PT. How do I check the heating element and thermostat if either is defective? Also, what is the equivalent part number for the heating element and the thermostat as NL27PT is not available?

Looking at the code I’d say it’s 27” so any thermostat form one that length would suffice, if whole element, then again any 27” should work. Bengee has given you the resistance readings.

WHATEVER you do, before you check it, make sure it is fully isolated at the main switch, preferably at the consumer unit unless you know for sure the immersion isolating switch is double pole.

3kw immersion element should read 18-20 ohms across the two terminals.
Thanks for the information, so this reading is across the heating element. Do I have to undo the connection before measuring? Also, do have to test the thermostat connection as that might have blown and what reading should I get.

Thanks and that what I thought. I got confused when I spoke with NewLec technical engineer. They said that the equivalent element number is 1051043918 which is only 18". Thanks, I will first check the element with an ohmmeter and then order accordingly. Electric will be switched at the mains box.

Thanks and I will fully isolate at the main consumer box even though I have a separate fuse for the immersion heater.

If you’re unsure how to use a multimeter- better not to...

As for the thermostat- it’s a switch; so zero resistance when closed, infinite when open.

Should also audibly “click” between the two as you alter the temperature.

Hi guys. I'm trying to identify a toilet model before ordering a seat for a customer. I went to what used to be a Roca stockist (they no longer are) and one of the guys there reckoned it might be "The Gap". I went to the new stockist and the guy there disagreed it was "The Gap" and that he'd...
