Electric shower

Hi I’m thinking to replace my electric shower. However my system is a gravity system. With a single tank in the loft and a hot water cylinder in the airing cupboard. If I was to turn off the mains stopcock is that enough for then to replace the shower ? I do not need to drain the tank?

Correct as in its sufficent to turn off the stopcock and replace the shower without needing to drain the single big water tank in the loft ?

Is the shower connected to the tank? Seems odd if it is.

Yes just turn off the stopcock and open the kitchen cold tap to allow the pipework to drain.

If you're not sure how to isolate the water supply, please be very careful in isolating the electrical supply to the shower before the work.
