Hi Folks,

Could you help please, I've had a new wet room installed with what I think is a McAlpine trap but there it looks to me like there is a part missing - there appears to be a gap where hair and scum and grunge can and is building up and I don't see how it can be cleaned very easily.

Is there a piece missing do you think, like the one in the attached exploded view of the trap?

Any help would be very much appreciated before I accept the job as finished.

I think the part you have mentioned is for installers to prevent anything falling down, such as broken tile, adhesive etc. You should have the grille part, do you?
I have the grill - it just seems like there must be a seal or something missing as I can't see how anyone would design a trap which has crevices and holes that can catch crud and can't easily be cleaned. I can see all that crud through the grate, it looks minging and it's a few weeks old.

Our kitchen mixer tap has started dripping. Like so much of the plumbing in our almost new build bungalow, it is lacking! The plumber didn't install any isolating cocks in the H&C feed to the tap so how can I identify which of the valves is passing? Shut the whole H&C water system down?

Hi, basic question, any insight much appreciated. Looking to have an outdoor tap in my front porch fed from 15mm pex coming up from suspended floor. Pic 1 is inside porch, pex temporarily clipped to give an idea of pipe placement (ignore shoddy blockwork of booted cowboy builder!), Pic 2 is...

Hello all, I’m replacing a concrete paving slab patio in the back yard. The original patio used 50mm deep concrete slabs on hardcore & sand. I’m planning to pour a 100mm deep concrete patio on 100mm hardcore. In order to achieve the same final height to line up with the rest of the patio, I...
