Looking to buy some Extra Deep Sockets for use on taps instead of box spanners..The fixing bolts on the taps in my house are 8mm and 10mm, so I was wondering what are the other common sizes? Trying to decided whether to buy a full set of if I only really need a couple?

Yeah, I think that's the route I am going to go down..

I was hoping to find 1/4" drive sockets that were deeper than the usual 50mm, but it looks like that is the standard size for 1/4" drive deep sockets..

You will have one disadvantage with sockets though, - a socket has heavier metal (wider) than a box spanner, which might make the taps with copper tails close tight to nut difficult to get a socket onto when removing or tightening old taps.

Our kitchen mixer tap has started dripping. Like so much of the plumbing in our almost new build bungalow, it is lacking! The plumber didn't install any isolating cocks in the H&C feed to the tap so how can I identify which of the valves is passing? Shut the whole H&C water system down?

Hi all I'm hoping someone can shine a light on this for me Since our stop tap on the pavement has now been filled with sand for whatever reason, we are relying on our property fitted stopcock (this is outside on our garage wall) Unfortunately turning this to the closed position only reduces...

Hi, basic question, any insight much appreciated. Looking to have an outdoor tap in my front porch fed from 15mm pex coming up from suspended floor. Pic 1 is inside porch, pex temporarily clipped to give an idea of pipe placement (ignore shoddy blockwork of booted cowboy builder!), Pic 2 is...
