Hey guys

My house has a ensuite with a broken SANIPLUS macerator which has been out of use for the past 5 years. Stupid I know, my parents haven't bothered to fix it lol

Question is how much should I be looking at for installing a new one if I were to pay a plumber ? and secondly do you guys have a recommended macerator that i should go for ?

much thanks

I wouldn’t expect much change from £1000. Saniflo macerators are are around £500. I’d quote a days labour + £200 if it’s been out of service for a good few years for possible contingencies.

Don’t know what others think but a macerator is always a last resort for me. They’re noisy and if you flush absolutely anything but human waste/toilet paper you’re forever trying to unblock and even having a fatty diet can cause you problems with them.

Interesting, so your day rate is 300 and you're adding 200, is this due to the nature of the job or for something else? Also could you please elaborate on how a fatty diet can cause problems and does that include vat? Genuine questions by the way.

Wow - £1k!

In Oxon a replacement installation for a newly supplied genuine Saniflo would be £500 (remove, clean system, supply new macerator and instal). For North London £650 to £700 - depending on parking, congestion and emissions location

Wow - £500! To supply new Saniplus, install and test. Does that include vat?
Again, genuine question.

Materials will be Plumb Nation ex vat prices with 22% trade discount, My comment was probably based on a Saniflo Up ( the last job we undertook in Acton a week ago).

Labour costs based on Apprentice Year 3 labour on JIB rates (circa £10.50/hr) plus subsistence (£38/day) and additional responsibility payment £1/hour. Total labour cost is doubled to cover consumables, overheads and profit.

Do you think we are missing a trick?

I should probably have said estimate here, prices are inclusive of VAT.

Yes, my standard day rate is around £300. Deduct VAT and operating costs it’s around £25/hr.

Given it’s been out of service for 10 years and I’ve no idea why, how it’s installed, why they abandoned it etc etc I’d warn them it may cost another £200 in extra time or materials - better than a nasty shock at the end in my book.

£500 inc VAT was a guesstimate without knowing what model, I’m assuming it’s scrap given its sat for 10 years.

Thanks for sharing guys, based on what you`ve said and without knowing all our locations I would say our final prices are similar but perhaps with a different method of getting there giving that the pumps and level of access would be the same for all of us.

I have 2 Saniflo macerators in my flat, the one in the kitchen had to be replaced some time ago and I seem to recall the engineer asked me for towels to mop up some spillage when he removed the faulty macerator. I have a problem with the one in my bathroom now, it works but smells awful and I...

Hi So I am adding an en-suite to a downstairs bedroom and have to install a macerator. I will be using the SaniPlus Up. I was trying to get a professional macerator fitter but can't get anyone in the time frame (in the next 10 days) so I am trying to fit the waste piping from the macerator...

Got some quotes for a service, one person has said if I haven't had the burner seal replaced for past 5 years, it should be done (& service price goes up by £55). Boiler installed in 2015 - never had the 'seal' replaced? Is it a necessary requirement just as a matter of course?

I live in a converted Victorian pub, and our kitchen and downstairs bathroom are at basement level. Behind the downstairs toilet there’s a (Broysan?) Planus macerator that handles the waste from the toilet, bathroom sink, shower (which is raised), kitchen sink, dishwasher and washing machine...
