HI

I have been asked to work at aproperty where the rising main comes up through a cellar into a kitchen above in 1" lead pipe (actually measures .95" OD)

The guy wants me to replace the pipe as far down as possible and replace with copper upwards in 22mm to kitchen.

i know you can can get fitings such as lead loks etc or philmac universal fittings but what would the best suggestion be to do this.

Thanks in advance

Hi. Try and get back to a point where there is a stopcock. If it is a type with unions either side joined to the lead pipe via cap and linings? A copper to iron union can be used to connect copper to valve. (On occasions from cellar situations you can drive a scaffold tube through wall and in to earth, forming hole in order to replace supply to out side stop valve.)

HI

thanks for your reply

The lead comes through the floor to stopcock about 18 inches up and carries on in lead - the joints are wiped joints

Hi. If resigned to using lead loc etc secure pipe well either side of joint. (they do not like being knocked about. Good Luck

I was stupid enough not to check the position of the pipes under the tiles when installing a toilet and drilled right through the center of a 16 mm copper water pipe. I exposed the pipe by removing a ~30cm section of the plastic sleeve and a ~10 cm section of the pipe around the hole. Several...

We run a community village hall and have a large kitchen provided for the use of hirers. This includes a Lincat SLR9 gas cooker which I believe is a 23.8Kw appliance with all six burners and oven on max. This was installed some 10 years ago and has passed all subsequent Gas Safety inspections as...
