..while rad is removed for decorating.

You know, in case TRV frost setting kicks in.

Schoolboy question I'm sure but.. what do I actually want to put on it?

A 22mm cap won't fit will it? Isn't it 3/4? (if it's not half inch..) I'm guessing it needs to be a 3/4 cap? And what do you use for the rubber washer disc inside? Does it have to be a specific rad capping off cap that you buy or do plumbers rig something up?

For the 1/2" valves use a half inch compression nut. Drop a 5p in and a fibre washer (tap adaptor washer).
For 3/4" use the nut off a rad valve tail with a 10p and 3/4" fibre washer.

You can buy the real Macoy if you want from any merchants. Just ask for 1/2" or 3/4" bsp brass caps.

for temp capping of rad valves when rad is removed recycle those old washing machine hose ends by cutting thon of and stuffing in the pars box, hammer down the crimped end or cut some rubber washers out of an old bike innertube. you can actually pry of the hase bit from the cap then use the cap with a 2p and bit of tube to cap off leaking dis-used w/m valves too.

If ever you fit a Baxi boiler you get a nice pair of caps one 1/2 and one 3/4 they come in for all sorts;)

TRV's are supplied with a decorators cap, remove head and screw cap right down, this eliminating the frost protection kicking in

TRV or conventional rad valve don't matter a tuppenny bit. Always, always, always cap off.

1/2" caps for 1/2" valves and 3/4" caps for 3/4" valves. Just black iron caps, don't worry about brass. Couple of winds of ptfe and Bob's your aunties live in lover!

Couple of quid and no messing about with 5p pieces or modified hose ends!

Tight fisted lot! lol

I just use a bit of pipe with a push fit stop end with a nut and ring compressed on

Hi, basic question, any insight much appreciated. Looking to have an outdoor tap in my front porch fed from 15mm pex coming up from suspended floor. Pic 1 is inside porch, pex temporarily clipped to give an idea of pipe placement (ignore shoddy blockwork of booted cowboy builder!), Pic 2 is...

Hi, Can anyone advise as to why the cold water to my bathroom keeps airlocking? This originally happened about 12 months ago and has happened 3-4 times since. It’s an upstairs bathroom, fed from a tank in the attic. The tank is about 8 Meters away and feeds a bath, sink and toilet. The tank...
