As per title I have a water booster and it is now broken but I am not sure I can have heating on as it may be topped up by the booster. The booster was for taps and 2 power showers so no no showers and only a trickle from cold less from the hot. Its an oil fired CH system with a condensing boiler. A bit concerned I may do damage. I believe the CH is a closed system. 13 years old and has worked flawlessly.

You may have a vented system with a small header tank (Feed&Expansion) in the attic which will provide a reserve and will/should last for weeks/months without any makeup required from the ballcock OR you may have a unvented system, in which case you will see a red expansion vessel which should have a top up valve with a pressure gauge somewhere close to it, it should read ~0.75/1.0 bar when cold & ~ 1.5/2.0 bar when hot, this should also last for weeks on end without the need for a top up.

Does your boiler have a pressure gauge on the front panel? Or a means of filling system alternatively in an airing cupboard? The water booster wont affect the heating system be it closed or open vented
