What's the best way to measure flow & return temperature at radiator?

What type of thermometer?

A differential thermometer

But you can get by with a laser thermometer

When balancing systems, I've found that the 10 degree drop across a rad can just about be felt with your hands - obv not holding on too long :D I have a diff therm, but its always been too slow for me and time is after all money... The IR ones I've found have to be aimed at a matt black area to an anywhere near accurate reading.
