After a few restless days and nights I'm seriously thinking about installing some air con...don't know really know much about it but there are some pre-gassed kits about that are tempting pricewise but the iQool gear looks like Chinese cr*p or should I go for a traditional Japanese brand? Any experiences, probably looking for a split 10 - 12kw inverter with two possibly three emitters?
There maybe a building change in terms of an extension and layout change in the near future, can you oversize an inverter without a detrimental effect to it's existing function and efficiency and can you add an emitter to an inverter if it isn't designed for such ie a two circuits but has the capacity for three? Just brainstorming and thinking about futureproofing my options.

Tbh @quality is your man as it’s something he specialises in but stick with the main brands

egmitsubishi,fujitsu

There are multiple solutions, but they all have design limits which my may rule out some.
Basically :
1. Individual split Units, one outdoor unit, one indoor unit, simplest , cheapest.
2. Multi-split, one outdoor unit , typically they can have 4 indoor units, which are piped in from the outdoor unit, cheapish again, although that can be alot of pipe to run as each indoor unit need 2 pipes back to the outdoor unit.
3. VRF system, one outdoor unit, many indoor units, just uses two pipes which are branched and have greater capacity for long runs.
Either way, with all options you will be dealing with gas directly and as such you need Fgas. With option 2 and 3, almost certainly you will need to add gas to the system, and again when you add an additional unit later, with the added complication of pumping back down and or recovering the gas from the existing pipes , pulling back down to vacuum before adding in another run.
All in all its a full blown a/c job for a a/c specialist.

If you're planning to retrofit whole-building aircon into a house that's not been designed for it then that's quite a project. Be careful about noise from the external unit(s); If you have neighbours, they'll be hot, grumpy and trying to sleep with their windows open so they'll be on to the council the day after the system is commissioned.

Look at Daikin multi-split they're up there with the best and also the do some smart looking indoor units. They do 3 way multi split with one outdoor unit which can be run independent. You would need F gas and relevant equipment that a heating normally wouldn't have so you would have to get someone qualified and capable but there no reason you couldn't work with them

Single split systems are generally the way to go.
Multi head condensing units are good but do reduce capacity of indoor units as the load increases.
Can be more expensive than single units as the condensers are on the expensive side and pipe runs can be diificult to get to each location.

VRV & VRF system for a domestic house would only be viable if the house is MASSIVE and money is of no object
