A friend's mixer tap drips. The handle on the side that drips doesn't have smooth motion like the other side. Sort of sticks a tad at when closed and drops a bit fast when opening. Am I right in thinking you can't maintain these and can only try and order a replacement cartridge? Taps only about 5 years old and he thinks he might have original packaging/instructions somewhere. Is there not a universal cartridge? Or a range of possible ones... And if there are how would you know which one save for buying them all and stuffing them in?...
Job should be easy, good access, isolation valve, but want to be sure best advice given.

Unlikely they are universal and unlikely they are repairable

Sounds like the Ceramic plates have worn unevenly

Best bet is order a new CD cartridge from the manufacturer job done

As Tom says very unlikely to get a universal one.
If possible contact manufacturer.
Had the same problem a few weeks back.Taps were Bristan five year guarantee, taps were three years old, but they had discontinued taps.
Had to tell customer to get new taps.
Thems the breaks

Graham

If this was the case then its up to bristan to replce the taps free of charge as they are still under guarentee, being bristan who are normally v quick to supply guarenteed parts they would probably do so.
