towel radiator
A towel rails radiator or a heated towel rail is a feature designed to heat towels before using them. For many years, European hotels have used them as combined towel- dryers/racks. The towel warmer is a bathroom heater suitable for both drying and heating towels and the environment. There are two versions: traditional ones that are plumbed like a radiator with water heated from a central boiler, and electric ones where an electrical resistance heats water or oil contained in the unit
Hi guys,
Sorry to have to ask this one, especially when I have done it previously on a number of occasions. But, is it okay to simply tap into existing feed and return circuits on heating system for the additional radiator?
I know that the boiler is capable of coping with the extra demand, and...
HI all,
I am having the radiators for my combi boiler ch system replaced tomorrow.
For the downstairs bathroom (size of a box room - quite small), I am trying to source a normal (not designer i.e overly expensive) chrome towel rad.
If there is anyone who has sourced one, of decent quality...
Does anyone else frequently get problems with the 1/2" Tappings on towel radiators. 90% of the ones I have seen are dog rough, usually a really slack thread, and often leak no matter how much jointing compound you put on.
I generally just use PTFE or loctite on the valve tails, is there...

Hello I fitted a chrome towel radiator yesterday (1800x600)
i stupidly used the two top connections for flow and return. The house is a bungalow so the pipes come from the roofspace and drop to below.
As soon as I turned the water on I knew the radiator wouldn't heat as the heat is taking the...

Went to a job where customer has had new towel rad and new rad valves fitted, had leak coming from rad tail where it goes into radiator. Customer had bought new rad valve and wanted me to fit them as original plumber away. I thought when rad was fitted maybe they hadn't put tape round thread, so...
I've just started a new bathroom/shower project and the customer has changed their mind and given me a new layout. Basically, everythings changed accept for the loo !
As you can see from the attached picture, the towel rail (which used to be where the new basin will be) is now sited on the end...
Hi all. I need to put a towel rail in my bathroom as I haven't got any heating there at the moment. Its 2.1m x 2.7m x 2.4m. I dont have any pipes ran there from the central heating and we hardly have the central heating on. Would I be better off getting an electric one? If so what type and size...
I need to fit an electricaly heated towel radiator, the one that the customer supplied is not suitable electric heating and must be connected to a 'wet' system.
I'm assuming that this is because there is little room for the expanded water once the element has heated the water or if the...

Hi folks,
I'm looking at getting a wet room with underfloor heating done! I was wondering if it's a done thing to link a towel radiator into the UFH circuit? Obviously it'll have to be permanently open if i run it as part of the circuit to allow the heating to circulate. Alternatively I could...

HI All , Wondered if anyone can tell me how to remove a towel radiator from the wall..I need to remove it to put shower panels on the wall , then put it back.....its not a combi boiler system ... its the other kind lol...
Hi folks,
I'm hoping for a helping hand here. My towel radiator has stopped heating up. Tried bleeding and then removal with a wash through (lots of black gunge expelled). Then re-fitted but hardly any difference. So noted the negatives about TRVs and thought it might be stuck.
So I've bought...
Are towel radiators suitable to heat the bathroom as well?
Wife wants one installed in the bathroom - 7.5'x9'x7.5' calculated to need about 2600btus. I can get a towel radiator rated at 2800btus, but I've heard various people say that they are great for towels, but hopeless at heating the room...
The radiator is warm on all the chrome fittings that surround the inner white radiator. The white inner is stone cold. It had been previously working OK.
All other rads in the house fine, just this one not operating properly.
Bled it but no luck. Appears the water takes the easiest route around...

My plumber has so far not been able to locate a replacement towel radiator which will fit the exising ch pipes which have 535mm centres.Any idea where to check/alternatives?
I have been searching the internet without success and am not keen on just getting the old rad re-sprayed.
Many thanks
Hello chaps
Any ideas why all the other rads are warming up and not the towel rad in the bathroom upstairs?
Obviously no TRV on this rad just a lock sheild and a turn head wheel.
I have open the locksheild but to no avail.. could this be a balancing problem?
The system is sealed, combi...
