I've done a good few but this one is super-tight and on bare floorboards so could get stuck. What do you guys use to make pushing it in easier? Bit of ply or something?
Hey everyone, I've dealt with a few bad airlocks over the years but was wondering if anyone had any good tricks to get them out faster/easier.
I've always been told to just leave it on constant until it settles and another time we had this plumber help us and he removed the thermostats on the...
Only done two practical lessons so far, we have one every day I'm in and they started this week for me. First day, learned how to measure copper pipe for cutting and piecing together, and using compression fittings and a pipe bender, created a letter P out of 15mm copper pipe. Next I Worked with...
Hi all,
I’m currently building my portfolio which is going great. I have a fantastic mentor too.
Today’s install was a boiler in the loft. If you’re working on your own, how do you manage getting boilers into the loft? I know a bit of muscle but...
I was just wondering if there’ any lifting...
I remember on the old original UK Plumbers Forum, that there was a very popular thread where plumbers could post and share tips. Is this available here?
This thread is aimed at exploring members experiences, thinking and reflections - in the area of choosing and servicing CH filters (Magnaclean, Fernox etc).
I think there are many people that need help in selecting a filter that is worth choosing over the long term, but I also hope to open the...
Hi all,
I'm due to service my first Main water heater next week. I haven't taken one apart before, so I'm a bit apprehensive. The boiler is two years old, but the flame picture has a yellow tinge, so a good clean is in order.
Most of it is straightforward enough - until it comes to the funny...
Hi everyone, I've been an oily engineer for over 10years now but have recently added vaporising burners to my qualifications.
I'm just after some tips for working on Aga's etc (I know experience and knowledge takes time), and also any tools etc that might be handy.
Any help would be greatly...
Hi Guys
First time posting in here, I've just moved into a new house and dont know how my central heating works.
I have a few questions
1. Which setting should my grunfos pump be set to?
2. What is the most energy efficient way to use the system I have?
3. The big yellow tank and sometimes...
evening folks

I'm assuming the TC is the live feed, not sure which one is which as it is different colours...
Hi folks.
I'll apologise now for this silly question.
I'm currently doing a job that involves soldering up to 54mm pipe. Previously only done up to 35mm.
I'm struggling to solder the vertical pipes so my question is whether it's advisable to crimp the fitting to keep the pipe in place?
Or...
Hi All
I thought I should share a few tips, as some people have been missing out tonight.
The limited-stock offers sell out very quickly indeed - sometimes just a few seconds. You have to have COMPLETED YOUR CHECKOUT to be sure you get your bargain. Dont waste time shopping for extra items...
I asked the plaster to solid daub a few areas were I need a good fixing however they haven't. I'll be using long screws to get to the breeze block behind. Any tips on not crushing the plasterboard though. Guess using a hand held screwdriver over a drill driver will help.
Anyone got any tips on how they manage to get the flow sensor and water inlet pipe back in far enough to get the clip down after you've changed the o-ring at the back, I've done it a few times but always a struggle, by far the worst job I've had to do on these boilers
