As a new user of this site I posted the following in an existing CH thread but I think it is of interest to any CH installer, so here it is again.
I'm a householder with a new CH system with JG Speedfit plastic 'barrier' pipe installed under the suspended floors. Only 8 weeks after start-up we...
Hi again, another novice question...
I have a vented hot water cylinder. I need to replace the connection out the top of the cylinder.
I've read elsewhere that you should only use copper for the first couple of foot closest to the cylinder, in case of overheating (i.e. it would be too hot...
I'm trying to connect a new incoming water main 25mm MPDE blue pipe to the 15mm copper serving the cold water supplies in my house.
If I use a MPDE to cu stopcock will I have to fit an insert into the blue pipe.?
Hope this is not to stupid a question but I don't want to make an expensive error...

I have a quick question regarding the "SuperSeal" speedfit pipe inserts...
Do they really provide a much tighter seal & can they be used in the same speedfit pipes that accept the standard pipe inserts?

Is it possible to use a compression reducing set i.e 22mm to 15mm with Speedfit pipe as the type I have don't compress with an olive? I've used scores of these with copper in compression fittings, but I think that I may have to use the type with an olive for Speedfit, using the inserts?

Someone on another thread on here mentioned that Hep20 and Polyplumb are better fittings and pipe than Speedfit. Is this true, are certain pushfit brands better than others?

Today, I was installing a new sink, it was a Blanco and the fitting were not standard sizes so this caused a headache.
The sink was too big for the kitchen unit but the customer said "make it fit" so using my magic powers succeeded.
Re-connected the new taps had a bit of a leak which...

Hi peeps.
Had to change a stopcock today. Whilst searching for one at my local supplier i noticed they sell 'Pushfit' types. Are these any good and are there any pro's to using them?
Also the same question for 'copper push fit'
The one thing i can see being a issue with copper push fit...

I'm just attempting my first bit of plumbing with JG speedfit pipe and fittings. I bought a coil of 15mm barrier pipe. I'm finding it dificult to work with because of the curve. Is there a way to straighten it? or do most people use straight lengths?
hello all, just wanted your opinions on which brand of push fit fittings are best from your own experiences? ive not used them a great deal, my two local suppliers are screwfix and toolstation but ive been advised not to use the jg speedfit that screwfix sell and am not sure about toolstations?

Can I use a straight Speedfit connector to join a 15mm copper pipe to a 15mm chrome plated copper pipe? I am wondering if the chrome plate will be to shiny to get a good grip.

Hi just completed the two week course at Chase Plumbing Academy and now moving on to do the water regs. Felt i should leave some feedback for you all regarding the course. Previously never had any experience of plumbing.
What I gained from the course was all the necessary skills to get down...

Something I've found pretty useful when fitting a new bath.
We all know how difficult it can be to get the tools in behind the bath to connect the taps..
Now, it is easier with the flexible hoses i'll grant you that, but to make it even easier, make sure the tap nearest to the 'closed' or back...
