smoke
Smoke is a collection of airborne particulates and gases emitted when a material undergoes combustion or pyrolysis, together with the quantity of air that is entrained or otherwise mixed into the mass. It is commonly an unwanted by-product of fires (including stoves, candles, internal combustion engines, oil lamps, and fireplaces), but may also be used for pest control (fumigation), communication (smoke signals), defensive and offensive capabilities in the military (smoke screen), cooking, or smoking (tobacco, cannabis, etc.). It is used in rituals where incense, sage, or resin is burned to produce a smell for spiritual or magical purposes. It can also be a flavoring agent and preservative.
Smoke inhalation is the primary cause of death in victims of indoor fires. The smoke kills by a combination of thermal damage, poisoning and pulmonary irritation caused by carbon monoxide, hydrogen cyanide and other combustion products.
Smoke is an aerosol (or mist) of solid particles and liquid droplets that are close to the ideal range of sizes for Mie scattering of visible light.
Does anyone know why an Riello RDB boiler would suddenly start pluming black smoke? Does it have anything to do with the needle valve in the fuel pump?
Was out tonight to help a mate shift some carp for a pending house move.

My understanding was a minimum of two smoke alarms...
What brand do you prefer and why? I've been using rothenburger but they don't give off as much smoke as I thought would be needed. I'm looking for something that burns for at least a minute so that I can go outside and have a good look at the chimney.
Hi all. As you all know I'm currently doing my ACS training and have asked the question on whether when servicing an existing fire, do you carry out a smoke match test whilst the fire is still in place or not?
I don't think I've been given the answer to be honest.
Hi all,
Could thick black smoke from the flue of a oil combi be the result of a faulty tigerloop, i wouldnt have thought so myself but have been told by my service engineer that the tigerloop is the problem. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks

I've just popped something in my halogen oven and stood at my kitchen window to have a cigarette, exactly 3 metres away, and noticed the heat shimmer from the morning sun (can see the shadows against my wall tiles) being pulled in through the open window. I then noticed the cigarette smoke...
