SiMPLE (a recursive acronym for SiMPLE Modular Programming Language & Environment) is a programming development system that was created to provide easy programming capabilities for everybody, especially non-professionals.
Following the death of SiMPLE creator Bob Bishop, the SiMPLE Codeworks website and forums are now offline, however they can be accessed via the internet archive archive.org.
It's DIY forums like this that have helped countless people fix, repair or replace things in their homes, which helped prevent additional damage and/or save a bunch of money in the process, not to mention that amazing feeling you get once you're done with the repair.
So thank you to all the...
Hi we moved into our house last summer and it wasn’t until winter we started having problems. We couldn’t get the radiators to work until my dad came around and fiddled with loads of stuff on the boiler and the radiators. To his credit it worked but now we can’t get the radiators to go off and...
I have a Nest thermostat in my hallway. Our lounge radiators have no TRVs and I cannot get them to come on with any decent amount of heat. Should I be leaving the door open to the lounge so that that room calls for heat or do I need to get TRVs. Or does a TRV not help this problem anyway!

Mum is 97 and lives alone in a 2-storey house. Potterton Combi boiler, and a simple thermostat like this https://www.heatingcontrolsonline.co.uk/image/cache/data/Drayton/RTS1_24001_Angled-B_0-1000x1000.gif halfway up the stairs.
She has never really understand thermostats... if she is cold, she...
Hello All,
I’m trying to build a simple 1/2” chrome rail with a 1/4 turn valve and two body jets for a fairly nice shower over my Xmas holidays. Finding the specific parts seems nigh impossible so I’m hoping someone can point me in the right direction. Chrome nipples are easy enough to find, but...
Hi everyone,
I am trying to find a go to programmer for my elderly customers mainly, it needs to be very simple to use and have a big well lit screen. I did used to install the drayton Mitime which i thought were great. But they have stopped them :(
Anyone got any recommendations??
Thanks
Can vsmart be overrided by simply pressing the plus sign on thermostat...reason I ask is customers + button doesn't increase temperature, never has and she's only ever been able to turn it on/off via app. Never fitted one clearly but would have thought her thermostat is faulty??
Header tank overflows.
Has 4 connections
2 x 18mm mm distribution both fitted with non return valve,
1 x 15mm [pressure limited 4 bar] supply via ball valve,
1 x 18mm overflow waste discharge to eaves.
Also theres 1 x 18mm pressure releif line from cylinder cupboard which terminates over the...
Hope is a simple question. The merits, or not, of deciding which is best as isolation valves for a pair of taps, gate valves , stopcocks or 90degree ballvalves, if any?
Hi guys, I'm just in the middle of a DIY refurb and wanted somebody to sense check my choice of equipment.
In the bathroom, I have a loo and a sink. Obviously it would be a good idea to have the ability to cut the water off should I ever need to and hence I will be fitting some 15mm isolation...
I have an old Bosch dishwasher that I want to get rid of. It is connected to the mains via an Aquastop pipe and solenoid. My temptation is just to unscrew it, but there does not seem to be a tap to turn off the water first. There is screw in the fitting under the solenoid that I can turn...

Hi...new shower cover doesn't fit over inlet pipe. The feed pipe comes through the wall at an angle. I have tried to adjust to no avail. Could I fit some of the plastic piping from the push fit....then connect to another push fit to the horizontal pipe in the cupboard? thanks.
So I posted before Christmas about my boiler issues, It was serviced and no big improvements in heat and if anything its worse now.
The thermostat has to be up as high as it goes 35c to get any sort of heat and even then its not overly warm. For example if you hit the 1hr button at the end of...

Is there an easy way to fit pan fixings to the floor on a back to wall pan? Other than measuring the distance from the wall to the hole and the distance between the inside of the pan width????
