recommendation
A recommendation in the European Union, according to Article 288 of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union (formerly Article 249 TEC), is one of two kinds of non-legal binding acts cited in the Treaty of Rome.
Recommendations are without legal force but are negotiated and voted on according to the appropriate procedure. Recommendations differ from regulations, directives and decisions, in that they are not binding for Member States. Though without legal force, they do have a political weight. The Recommendation is an instrument of indirect action aiming at preparation of legislation in Member States, differing from the Directive only by the absence of obligatory power.
Hello there all,
I care for my disabled mum and her wet room ceiling has developed small speckles of black mould.
I plan to remove the black mould and then paint the ceiling voer with a decent anti-mould ceiling paint.
Can anyone recommend a decent paint brand? I know of Ronseal and Zinsser but...
I bought the a bleed valve from S****fix about a year ago:
s****fix.com/p/radiator-vent-blanking-plug-nickel-2-pack/40972
It worked fine initially, but I noticed that the little bleed screw needed to be turned a little tighter each time I bled that radiator to seal it up again. Having bled it...
Hi
Where I am living the water is very hard. The result is my heat exchanger most likely has accumulated limestone. The problem is that due to the limestone accumulation the boiler is cutting out at high temperature, thus not having the possibility to transfer enough heat to the radiators.
Is...
Our 8 year old ensuite shower is giving very inconsistent temperature output! we don't know the make or model so I'm wondering whether to bite the bullet and buy a "branded" replacement. The centres are 150mm - photo below (apologies for the angle but the only way to get the existing unit in 1...
Hi,
I looking for a thermostat for my Sime Brava One which implements the OpenTherm Protocol and has an RF between the thermostat and the boiler control unit. I prefer to have it with Wifi, but it's not a must.
Thanks,
AymanB.
Greetings. Stranger from the electrician's forum here. Need some plumbing advice please!
Our bathroom shower mixer is on surface.
The mixer needs changing and her indoors would like a recessed mixer.
The problem is that the wall is quite thin and i only have 6cm from front of tiles to the...
Hi all,
I’m looking for a course that will cover the necessary certificates for me to obtain the gas safe status. I’ve come across a few providers who offer, training, hands on experience and the exam, but I’m torn on which one to go for.
Does anyone have good/bad experience they could share...
In my topic Cause & effect (funny story) I mentioned how I worked around a problem with heating a single UFH zone with 30kw heat only boiler. That all worked out but I also face a similar problem when choosing a heating system for a newly extended outbuilding.
This extension is on a double...
Hi, sorry to bother you all with this but I am really struggling to find a suitable combi-boiler replacement and a knowledgeable heating engineer to discuss options. Ive tried to note as much relevant details below - apologies if its too long or irrelevant. Any help most gratefully received...
Hi, we've recently bought our first house (1.5 bed, 1.5 bath, 6 radiators), and it seems we're in need of a new boiler - apparently our current one is a Valliant 2008 model, and it just started unhappily clanging a couple of weeks ago. The plumber we called to look at it suggested we replace it...
Hi all. It’s been a while since fitting a bath for a customer but I’m looking for some solid recommendations if possible. I know they all look similar but don’t want anything squeaking when it’s stood in. Cheers.
Background story: About 18 years ago we refurbished 75% of our house and self-installed UHF in that part of the property with the help and advice of a good friend of mine (who is also a Gas Safe registered engineer). At the time we purchased a design and complete kit of parts from a young...
Hi
I'm a bit lost on which pump I need to power the kitchen tap. We are installing a tap with pull out hose, and according to our builder, none of those come with tails with big enough holes to let enough hot water pressure through and he has said the only option is a pump (or a combi boiler...
Hi All,
I'm looking for a recommendation for an electric shower.
Having installed a gravity fed Mira Elite ST I want to change to a mains fed (very easy as I can go off feed to tank) electric shower as the Mira Elite sounds like a plane taking off. With the bathroom next to one of the kids...
Thanks anyone for reading

Any recommendations are welcomed.
Hi
Ive got a client who wants central heating fitted in a coach house that has no gas supply, can anyone recommend a decent electric boiler? Its not a small place so I can't see much online that looks suitable, total heating load is around 22kw - 4 bed place with poor insulation, and then it...
