oil
An oil is any nonpolar chemical substance that is composed primarily of hydrocarbons and is both hydrophobic (does not mix with water, literally "water fearing") and lipophilic (mixes with other oils, literally "fat loving"). Oils are usually flammable and surface active. Most oils are unsaturated lipids that are liquid at room temperature.
The general definition of oil includes classes of chemical compounds that may be otherwise unrelated in structure, properties, and uses. Oils may be animal, vegetable, or petrochemical in origin, and may be volatile or non-volatile. They are used for food (e.g., olive oil), fuel (e.g., heating oil), medical purposes (e.g., mineral oil), lubrication (e.g. motor oil), and the manufacture of many types of paints, plastics, and other materials. Specially prepared oils are used in some religious ceremonies and rituals as purifying agents.
I’m trying to replace a top fixing toilet seat but can’t figure how to dismantle the existing one. There’s no brand name found anywhere including for the main toilet. Photo attached. It’s not the easy push in/pull out type and not soft closing. The tiny screws (circled) won’t turn - knackered. I...
I went to check the filter on my oil tank (plastic, bunded, 1300l)which I fitted two years ago. 5000l of oil had been used with no problems to date but I thought I'd check since the tank was filled last week.
I thought when I fitted the filter supplied with the tank that it was a poor design of...
Hi all,
Hope you might be able to help.
Last year I installed a new boiler as per title.
Since then the pressure is always very low to none and I have to constantly top it up.
The system was fed from a tank in the attic and had very low pressure, at best 0.4. I had it swapped it to be fed...
For a couple of months now the CH side of the boiler has been leaking water. It would leak for a couple of days and stop. Very intermittent, but very annoying when we get water dripping everywhere (so the system would depressure quite significantly). I have isolated the behaviour to a valve on...
Hi all. We have at present a Biasi M96.24 which has been with us since jesus was born and it's now time to replace it.
We have been told that the one fitted now is no longer made so will have to have a different model.
We want another Biasi as we have had no problem with it until now.

Any idea why the condensate trap on a one year old ideal boiler would have so much sediment in it as seen in the picture? On other one year old boilers of the same model on this estate the condensate trap is clear. In the one in the picture there is also sediment in the black pipe that connects...

The police say they have nothing to go on
Evening all,
Could someone please clarify this question for me? My interpretation of the current situation is that since Boiler Plus omitted to reintroduce the requirement that all new boiler installs need TRVs on the rads it has been recognised by the EU EPBD and the Government's Domestic...
The push button on the wall for my toilet no longer works. It pushes in but does not flush the toilet. I can flush manually by pushing down in the cistern - photo attached. I have checked the tube from the button leading to this and there does not appear to be holes.
Anyone know what the fix may...
We recently moved into a new home that currently has a Super Hot MG-100 Hydronic Boiler (installed in 1986, when the house was built). Clearly, the boiler is way past its life expectancy and in need of replacement. We had a couple of boiler companies come give us a quote and one of them...
Hi all
I wanted to switch on the heating after the summer and noticed that there is zero bars on boiler and heating is not working. A while back we had fitted smart meters, company confirmed that the gas is communicating ok so there is no problem on supply.
When I opened valve on pipe to...
I have a new boiler that is set at 75C. I am able to heat sufficient hot water for a day if I set the controls for hot water only for half an hour. If I set my controls for the heating alone to come on immediately after the water for a further half hour, I find that all the radiators in the...
Sorry - I should have posted this in the Central Heating section.
Hello All,
I don`t know how many Members would be affected by this and at present it is only a Boiler Manufacturers interpretation of possible amendments to the Building Regulations Fire protection relating to Boilers in Flats...
