noise
Noise is unwanted sound considered unpleasant, loud or disruptive to hearing. From a physics standpoint, there is no distinction between noise and desired sound, as both are vibrations through a medium, such as air or water. The difference arises when the brain receives and perceives a sound.Acoustic noise is any sound in the acoustic domain, either deliberate (e.g., music or speech) or unintended. In contrast, noise in electronics may not be audible to the human ear and may require instruments for detection. In audio engineering, noise can refer to the unwanted residual electronic noise signal that gives rise to acoustic noise heard as a hiss. This signal noise is commonly measured using A-weighting or ITU-R 468 weighting. In experimental sciences, noise can refer to any random fluctuations of data that hinders perception of a signal.
Hi all,
Came back from a week away and my combi boiler lost pressure completely which happen every now and then.
When I open the refill valve, pressure is going back extremely slowly (slower than usual)
After a bit it started doing a very hard knocking noise. Turned it off for now but unsure...
Hi guys
Was working on the above boiler on Monday, with customer initially calling to say the boiler has been sounding like ‘a small aeroplane taking off’ ...INTERMITTENTLY!
On initial inspection, it didn’t perform the loud humming noise as described by the customer. I gave the boiler a full...

When I am running water from the taps or flushing the toilet there is no noise coming from them. However once I have shut them off I get a repetitive thumping noise about 5-10 minutes...

Hi folks, anyone know why our Worcester boiler is making this buzzing noise, it just seems to happen randomly and only goes when you physically turn the boiler off then on again, then it might not happen again for another 6/7 hours, sometimes sooner. Do I need a plumber to come look at it, or is...
Hi all,
We have a Concord gas boiler and it runs fine and not particularly noisy in operation.
Lately after the first cycle of heating the water there is a rumbling/clattering noise about 30seconds to a minute after the boiler has shut back to pilot only.

We recently moved to a rented property. Last Spring it was converted from oil to gas central heating. The property is a 1960'S chalet bungalow. The current boiler is made by Ideal and was new last Spring.
The heating works and heats the house very well, but the noise is unbearable. The bedroom...
My toilet fill valve makes vibration noise every time I flash it. It stops for a few seconds if I use my hand to stop the watch coming out from the fill valve. Anyone has any idea what the problem it could be? Thanks

1) If the water in the rads and pipes is so hot that I can't touch the rads, is it possible that I can hear it rushing and coursing through the rads and pipes? I've been told the noise is air in the system, but I'm wondering if it's boiling hot water instead.
2) When...

Hi,
I have had a new unvented system installed. When the hot water has been heating up for some time and I turn on the taps or the shower I get a loud noise lasting a few seconds from the cupboard where the tank is. If I turn the taps off again soon afterwards I get a similar noise. This only...
