Davidson's Mains is a former village and now a district in the north-west of Edinburgh, Scotland. It is adjacent to the districts of Barnton, Cramond, Silverknowes, Blackhall and Corbiehill/House O'Hill. It was absorbed into Edinburgh as part of the boundary changes in 1920 and is part of the EH4 postcode area.
Locals sometimes abbreviate the name to D'Mains.
Morning! Woke up to the same problem of mains water coming out of all the mixer taps when they were turned to hot as well as when they were turned to cold.
Got up and decided to do battle with the shower unit mystery. Saw that the hot/cold control on both showers was set to the hottish...

Customer wants new kitchen tap.
Their set up is combi boiler & mains cold which has good pressure.
The tap they've seen states for high pressure systems only.

Also, it states that if the hot & cold are unbalanced then a listed check valve must be fitted upstream on both hot...

Popped over from the tilers forum. I need a bit of advise on mains water pumps and compensaters.
I have been looking at the stuart turner mains booster 300 which should sort out the low pressure. I'm having an en-suite in the loft and have a combined boiler. My flow is about 10lt a min but...
The en-suite toilet is around 10 years old and has had no problems previously. However, a few days ago the water in the pan becomes discoloured about half an hour after it has been flushed.
The flush is strong and the water in the pan immediately after the flush is clear.
This problem is not...

Hi all, I Stripped the gland nut on stopcock like an idiot. I did not pack the gland properly and kept tightening the nut to stop the drip, by doing this i destroyed the nut.
Do i have to freeze the pipe in order to replace the stopcock or is there a way of removing the gland nut?
At least...
Hi,
I have an ongoing problem with the water flow from my mixer taps and shower. Only the flow rate from the mains-supplied kitchen cold tap is acceptable. Over the last 2 - 3 months the output from the other mixer taps has gradually decreased and it seemed likely that my booster pump had...
Hi All,
have got a customer with a 5 bed house (two bathrooms and a shower). They want to replace and open vented Y plan system and ideally want to lose the cylinder as they're very tight for space believe it or not.
Thinking of quoting to put a Worcester highflow combi in and a booster tank on...
Hi,
A plumber is replacing my bath for me and has highlighted the soft bright Blue Powdery/Gritty deposit that is congesting the Mains Cold 12mm copper pipe. Its lumpy and irregular throughout the pipe. I've seen Scale build-up before, and it was white and very hard. This stuff is easily moved...
