hotwater
A geyser (, UK: ) is a spring characterized by an intermittent discharge of water ejected turbulently and accompanied by steam. As a fairly rare phenomenon, the formation of geysers is due to particular hydrogeological conditions that exist only in a few places on Earth. Generally all geyser field sites are located near active volcanic areas, and the geyser effect is due to the proximity of magma. Generally, surface water works its way down to an average depth of around 2,000 metres (6,600 ft) where it contacts hot rocks. The resultant boiling of the pressurized water results in the geyser effect of hot water and steam spraying out of the geyser's surface vent (a hydrothermal explosion).
A geyser's eruptive activity may change or cease due to ongoing mineral deposition within the geyser plumbing, exchange of functions with nearby hot springs, earthquake influences, and human intervention. Like many other natural phenomena, geysers are not unique to planet Earth. Jet-like eruptions, often referred to as cryogeysers, have been observed on several of the moons of the outer solar system. Due to the low ambient pressures, these eruptions consist of vapor without liquid; they are made more easily visible by particles of dust and ice carried aloft by the gas. Water vapor jets have been observed near the south pole of Saturn's moon Enceladus, while nitrogen eruptions have been observed on Neptune's moon Triton. There are also signs of carbon dioxide eruptions from the southern polar ice cap of Mars. In the case of Enceladus, the plumes are believed to be driven by internal energy. In the cases of the venting on Mars and Triton, the activity may be a result of on solar heating via a solid-state greenhouse effect. In all three cases, there is no evidence of the subsurface hydrological system which differentiates terrestrial geysers from other sorts of venting, such as fumaroles.
Our heating circuit consists of two pumprd circuits one for hot water and one for the main central heating. Pipe runs are long, 50m 25mm total, there and back. The main circuit works fine with adequqte flow to all radiators giving less than 10dec temp drop. The hotwater circuit although...

Yesterday I changed a 2 port valve to my indirect vented cylinder.
The fault was boiler noisy and boiling water coming out of the vent into the F&E Vessel.
There was a lot of debri sitting in the top of the valve. The pipework continued to the bottom entry to the indirect coil.
Initially every...

Can anyone tell me, in simple terms please, the following?
What is the difference between an Unvented Central Heating system and a Sealed Central Heating system
Many thanks:)

Once a motorised valve has powered up and moved the valve from hot water to central heating should the motor stop running and lock in position bare in mind the spring tension against it, or should it carry on running to keep the spring tension valve in the correct postition.
Any help would be...

Today, I had to drain down a cold water tank. It was made of asbestos, now, being new to all this I was a little shocked. I explained to the house holder who lives on his own and a pensioner about his tank and he said that he knew.
I offered to replace the tank at a good price plus the cost...

hi, i looked at a twin vented cylinder fully pumped setup yesterday which has had some problems which need rectifying. Its uses a Y plan setup.
First of all, is that when just 'hotwater' is on, the heating starts to warm up. So im fairly sure this just needs a swept tee where the heating joins...

Hi Everyone
I often turn up for an appointment with a client about a plumbing issue but the customer is not there when I call. When I phone them to rearrange they do not get back to me. Does this often happen to anyone else? Extremely frustrating especially when work is scarce!

Hello,
I previously asked about using a thermal store. Having looked around a bit I only seem to find ones that use plate type heat exchangers. I live in a very hard water area and I'm wondering if this type of heat exchanger will be robust to limedscale (I belive in combi's they can be...

I'm new to the form, so Hi everyone.
Can somebody explain why, with a modern boiler in an open-vent system, both the feed and vent are necessary. Surely the feed would cope with any expansion.

I fitted a new valve to the loft cistern, replaced the guts of two toilet cisterns.
