ensuite

A bathroom or washroom is a room, typically in a home or other residential building, that contains either a bathtub or a shower (or both). The inclusion of a wash basin is common. In some parts of the world e.g. India, a toilet is typically included in the bathroom; in others, the toilet is typically given a dedicated room separate from the one allocated for personal hygiene activities. In North American English the word 'bathroom' is sometimes used to refer to any room in a residence that contains a toilet, regardless of the inclusion of a bath or shower.
Historically, bathing was often a collective activity, which took place in public baths. In some countries the shared social aspect of cleansing the body is still important, as for example with sento in Japan and the "Turkish bath" (also known by other names) throughout the Islamic world.

Want a wet room in ensuite, OT thinks too small

My existing en-suite layout is awful. Tiny cubicle and very cramped. I had thought of loosing the large basin, for a corner basin or one in a toilet tank design to create more space. Loosing the 740x740 cubicle for either a large open plan tray and a glass side panel. The prices for a tray...

    Ensuite shower renovation tips

Hi all, Shower was installed 3 years ago when I bought this place. A combination of below average workmanship and poor tiles (didn't get same batch numbers) has left me disappointed with the ensuite. Ideally, I'd get it re-tiled, but I fear this will be very expensive, and possibly mean I'd...

I am having a house built and I want to provide capped hot/cold water and waste water to a bedroom for a future ensuite. I don't want the builder to do the ensuite now because I am already over budget. They are saying they can't provide capped water and waste points to a non-wet area (i.e. a...

    Bringing pipework through ensuite floor

When bringing pipework through the floor of the ensuite, I wonder just how tight I need to make the fit between the floor and the pipework? I have seen a previous comment about getting the fit as tight as possible, but I’m not sure why that is necessary? Reason I ask is that it will be a PITA...

    Ensuite Shower losing water pressure

Hi There I moved into a property last year (only 8 year old propery) and it has a lovely ensuite on the 3rd floor (4 bedroom semi) as well as a normal bathroom on the 2nd floor. When moving in, the water pressure in the en suite shower was nice and strong 24x7. Beautiful. The bath and the...

We are renovating our house and after a lot of playing around I have worked out the best floorplan for upstairs. 110mm Soil pipe to ensuite

Hi All, I am adding an ensuite to our bedroom. The new 110mm soil pipe run (Grey in diagram) is approx 6m long and enters the building beneath a timber suspended floor. The 90 degree bends are swept. I am assuming it would be a good idea to vent the pipe above the new toilet with an air...
