bleed
In printing, bleed is printing that goes beyond the edge of where the sheet will be trimmed. In other words, the bleed is the area to be trimmed off. The bleed is the part on the side of a document that gives the printer a small amount of space to account for natural movement of the paper during guillotining, and design inconsistencies. Artwork and background colors often extend into the bleed area. After trimming, the bleed ensures that no unprinted edges occur in the final trimmed document. It is very difficult to print exactly to the edge of a sheet of paper/card, so to achieve this, it is necessary to print a slightly larger area than is needed and then trim the paper/card down to the required finished size. Images, background images and fills which are intended to extend to the edge of the page must be extended beyond the trim line to give a bleed.
Bleeds in the US generally are 1/8 of an inch from where the cut is to be made. Bleeds in Europe generally are 2 to 5mm from where the cut is to be made. This can vary from one print company to another. Some printers ask for specific sizes; most of these companies place the specific demands on their website or offer templates that are already set to their required bleed settings.
Hi there, help needed. Moved into our new house which has an old Worcester 25Si. We had a new radiator fitted but the "plumber" didn't repressurise the system so I've bled the rads but the pressure has dropped and I do not know how to top up the pressure. I can't find a tap or indeed a manual...

Hi everyone,
my first time posting here and really need some help. :stooge_curly:
My radiators need bleeding as half hot/cold and I have had trouble getting a key to bleed them. They are pre 2003 type.
However I have just discovered they are Quinn radiators whom are now called QRL. I have...
Sorry if it's in the wrong section. All 8 rads in my new home need bleeding but a bleed key doesn't fit any of them. All the same looking and they don't look damaged. I can't seem to find anything other than a standard key, does any body have any ideas?
Hi,
I've drained down a conventional vented heating system (c. 1998) and and trying to re-fill. The fill & expansion tank is nicely filled, and I have got a small amount of air out of some of the downstairs radiators, after having set the 3 way valve to M(id). That has now stopped and I have no...
I've just drained my standard gravity fed system and replaced a couple of TRVs. I'm just about to re-fill, but I have noticed that a couple of the double radiators only have one bleed screw. Some of them have 2 screws as I would expect, one for each half, at the top on the "inside" of the...
Hi there I've not long moved into my property and the radiators have started playing up. It is a Gas central heating system and most of the rads are working. I was going to try and bleed the ones that where not working to see if this solved the problem but I can't find a bleed valve anywhere...
Hi there.
I have just been given a double radiator and need to find some bleed valves. Ive not seen this type before. Could anyone point me in the right direction please.
Thanks
Duncan
Hi,
I am a handyman for a letting agent. I visited a property today to show the tenants how to bleed their radiators. But one rad had a bleed valve that I was not sure how to use. I have attached photos of the valve.
The paint from years of decorating have really bunged it up. Is it possible...
A few days ago our tank ran dry of oil, we got the tank filled and the bled the boiler (RDB2.2).
The problem we are having is when the heating is turned on at the electronic control in the house it does not start unless we go out and press the reset button, at which point the boiler fires up...

Hi folks,
I've read the disclaimer about offering advice to those without being registered as gas safe, but I *don't* think the issue is something worthy of an engineer visit (my landlord isn't great with paying out for general repairs), just looking for some advice, however I'm more than...

I've broken the inner lug out of a bleed valve. I took a photo to my local plumbers and they haven't seen anything like it before. The photo is attached (hopefully if I've worked out how to do it). I've also looked on ebay and it is similar to a Myson 2003 bleed valve in that it has a...
Hello,
My central heating system has been running OK for the past few years, but yesterday things went wrong.
The system is a 1980's vintage gravity fed system.
The problem started as follows:
1 - I'd noticed that a couple of rads were slightly cool, but warmer at the bottom than the top.
2...
Just a quick one. I have two different bleed keys (see photo), and neither will fit on the bleed valves of some older rads. I'm not 100 per cent sure, but I think they may fit on the square screw that turns, but it's the circular collar around the screw that's stopping the key sliding over the...
Just a couple of quick questions about an 8 year old Ecotec Plus 831 combi (R1). Will this boiler have the bleed program function? I don't have the manual, but looked in one online and couldn't see it listed in the contents or on the filling page.
If this boiler does have a bleed program...
I'm renting a shared house(as of 3 months) and the radiator in my room isn't working or it'll only get barely warm, the landlady is worse than useless when it comes to anything in this house, (there's no vent in the bathroom so mold grows, if the shower is on for too long pipes downstairs leek...
