South Bend is a city in and the county seat of St. Joseph County, Indiana, on the St. Joseph River near its southernmost bend, from which it derives its name. As of the 2020 census, the city had a total of 103,453 residents; its metropolitan statistical area had a population of 324,501, while its combined statistical area had 812,199. It is the fourth-largest city in Indiana.
The area was settled in the early 19th century by fur traders and was established as a city in 1865. The St. Joseph River shaped South Bend's economy through the mid-20th century. River access assisted heavy industrial development such as that of the Studebaker Corporation, the Oliver Chilled Plow Company, and other large corporations.
The population of South Bend declined after 1960, when it peaked at 132,445. This was chiefly due to migration to suburban areas as well as the demise of Studebaker and other heavy industry. Today, the largest industries in South Bend are health care, education, small business, and tourism. Remaining large corporations based in the area include Crowe, Honeywell, and AM General. The city's economy and culture are influenced by the nearby University of Notre Dame.In the 2010s, the city's population started to increase for the first time in nearly 50 years. The old Studebaker plant and surrounding area, now called Ignition Park, is being redeveloped as a technology center to attract new industry. The city was featured in national news coverage of former mayor Pete Buttigieg, a candidate in the 2020 Democratic Party presidential primaries and current Secretary of Transportation in the Biden administration.

Drain snake stuck in the u bend

So my toilet got blocked and none of the usual methods were working. I had a drain snake lying around in a kitchen drawer so thought I'd give it a go. I didn't bother to check online how to use it etc (obviously 🙄) I just shoved it down the u bend and wiggled it about a bit and all the Rubbish...

How do I bend oil pipe?

Evening All, We've just moved into gas boilers (after years doing gas) and are currently tooling up. On our first install we had problems bending the 10mm plastic coated, white pipe. Possibly because of the sub-zero conditions the covering shattered when we bend it by hand. It measures 12mm...

I'm looking to replace my water supply. I will be digging the trench on my side myself. I have all the safe dig plans etc and found the guide on the southern water website: Slightly confused by the 750mm minimum from the outside wall. Is this an actual thing? Every stopcock I have ever seen...

Not a very nice 15mm bend

Attached is a photo of a bend I have done on a piece of 15mm pipe, not very good. I have used the same bender in the past with no problems. I have not stuttered when bending it a nice smooth pull of the bender. Done 3 now all the same. Bender and former are fine. I know a workman always blames...

Best fix for a pipe repair on a bend?

Hello! Only myself to blame, using the jigsaw as I was taking up the bathroom floorboards and the one board I didn't look under ... Had the H&C feed. If it was on a straight I'd be quite happy to use these copper patch repairs but as the cut is on a bend I'm assuming you don't get an adequate...

How long can soil pipe from the toilet to the soil stack be? And can it have a bend?

I’ve included a sketch of roughly how I want my soil pipe to be routed. I’ll need to use an s-trap for the toilet so the pipe goes straight down through the floor and into the kitchen below before bending it back into a near-horizontal sloping pipe (1/80 gradient) that runs along the edge of the...

Is there such a thing as a black rest bend

My external foul drains are not deep. If I connect a rest bend then most of it will be exposed. Painting should stop UV degradation but I'm not sure how well the paint will adhere. does anyone make black ones? Would two 135 degree bends connected together make a suitable alternative with a...

Without lifting floor and adding a 90 bend. What can be done here.

Like the title says, what can be done here without digging up and moving the sewer bend back. There was and old toilet here for over 30 years and only getting replaced now. There was a flexi on it and also sitting up on a concrete base that's been removed. I know what im suggesting isnt...

How close can fittings go to a bend.

I've recently bought a decent (Monument) pipe bender which distorts/ovals the pipe only very slightly but enough to make me wary of putting push fit particularly, but also compression fittings, too close to the bend. So far I've managed to leave a good 6" between bend or "hook mark" (at the...
