banging
In computer engineering and electrical engineering, bit banging is slang for any method of data transmission that employs software as a substitute for dedicated hardware to generate transmitted signals or process received signals. Software directly sets and samples the states of GPIOs (e.g., pins on a microcontroller), and is responsible for meeting all timing requirements and protocol sequencing of the signals. In contrast to bit banging, dedicated hardware (e.g., UART, SPI interface) satisfies these requirements and, if necessary, provides a data buffer to relax software timing requirements. Bit banging can be implemented at very low cost, and is commonly used in embedded systems.Bit banging allows a device to implement different protocols with minimal or no hardware changes. In some cases, bit banging is made feasible by newer, faster processors because more recent hardware operates much more quickly than hardware did when standard communications protocols were created.
I just rented a top floor flat which is a roof conversion built only 10 years ago and after moving in, i found out that inside the largest storage eaves, there is a communal water tank which serves only the 6 other flats below except mine .
I already has few issues with the tank noise which has...
What can possibly cause a 3 port valve to bang. Got called to a job that has banging intermittently coming from the cylinder cupboard. It didn't do it on my visit but apparently has continued. I switched the valve from hot water to central heating when was there.
This started last night at 11.25 and has me completely flummoxed. A banging noise that is hard to track down. When I'm in Bathrooom that has airing cupboard it seems to come from hallway when in hallway it seems for come from cupboard. The system is a grant boiler in an outside house, purpose...
Hi,
We have an old Worcester 28i junior combi boiler which has started making some strange noises. I've recorded a video of this Video. Seems to mainly do this once a hot tap has been turned on then off, doesn't do it when its due supplying hot water to the heating system. Any ideas what is...
Hello all,
I require your help and support to get to the bottom of this issue.
I've always had banging pipes in my property however I do think it's getting worse. Initially when the boiler starts to heat the radiators and hot water tank they bang very loud and fast for a few moments. All is...
Hi,
Firstly, I've looked into a few existing topics but they looked a bit different.
My boiler Flexicom 18sx, or the pipes right around the boiler is making banging sound. This started to happen more now when weather got colder, if this is not a coincidence.
I was able to capture a sample...
Hi all,
Whenever a cold tap or the washing machine is used in our house there is a single bang each time as it is turned off. This can be heard around the house but is loudest at the combi boiler in the upstairs airing cupboard. There is a shock arrestor fitted near the boiler which I have...

Hi everyone, really hoping someone can help me as I’m a complete novice.

Hi guys,
I have a Viessman Vitodens 100 heat only open vent boiler that was fitted around 4 years ago.
It has been serviced when required and overall runs great and very efficient.
However, at the end of last year we had an extension built and the flue had to be extended around 2 meters...
Hi
I have a 20 year old Gledhill Boiler Mate 2 thermal store (BM2). It's been working with a Potterton 24kW Pro Max boiler for many years. It was recently inspected and all working well.
The Potterton boiler died and was replaced with a Vaillant 32kW open vent heat only boiler, and the whole...
Honeywell 4043H1056 just installed to replace ESi which was leaking. HW is banging on closing whereas ESi didn't!! Both are power opening, spring closing. HW was installed in the same direction in the return pipework. Arrow points towards the tank. Is that correct? Need another to replace my 2nd...

Hi all.
So for some reason I started to get a random banging in what I believe to be my cold water pipes.
There’s a clunk noise coming from what sounds like the stop tap/ water meter area every time I turn off the cold water taps in the house.
But also we get the same noise coming randomly...
hi all
You may remember sometime ago I posted about radiator leaking a year later on new build...
Well the same developer has now been on my case about flow rate. It is poor on the cold services throughout. He mistakenly got the builder to fit 20mm mdpe instead of 25mm when the place was...
Hey. Got called to the above boiler with complaints of a knocking noise. When I arrived I found the pressure to be over 3 bar. The filling loop had failed. Took pressure down to 1.5bar. Fired up boiler again and the knocking noise still persists. Sounds like a rocks in a washing machine. Thought...
I'm getting banging pipes when a hot or cold tap in the house is turned on full, then turned off. Draining the system of water, then filling back up fixes the problem for 24 hours, then the banging returns.
I know dead ends in pipe work, can cause the problem. The heating system in the house...
