Oil boiler, elderly owner, how to improve current set up?

Thanks very much for your comments, it is interesting the difference of opinion as to whether upgrading to a new boiler would improve efficiency that much I have just watched a video on s plans, hadn't heard of this before... so I understand it would be to create zones in the house ... good...

Oil boiler, elderly owner, how to improve current set up?

Hello All My elderly Dad, is reluctant to put heating on , you know the story.... He has a gravity fed oil boiler, thermostatic valves on radiators but no main thermostat control on the wall to regulate the boiler other than next to the boiler. I worry he doesn't put the heating on and instead...

Is there a problem with my Dad's storage tank?

My Dad heats his water and house with an oil fuelled boiler. He has an unvented storage tank which also has an immersion . The tank is covered with foam insulation. Cleaning rads without power flushing

    Cleaning rads without power flushing

Hmm.. but what if there is a leak under my floorboards?! Or several leaks! Also I’m not convinced powerflushing properly cleans all the muck out and also don’t plumbers prefer power flushing cause it’s easier for them?

    Cleaning rads without power flushing

Evening all My rads are quite old (30 yearsish) they are the standard single panel rads. The ones downstairs have large cold patches at the bottom when the heating is on. I want to keep them as I do not want anything deeper to block vital space and because I do not want to change the pipe...

    Leaking kitchen sink

So I had another look at sink on Saturday. There is no screw that can be tightened or loosed from the top of sink, it just looks like you can turn the bolt with something as there are two indentations on the bolt for this. I was unable to budge the white waste pipe from below. So I understand...
