Novice here so please bear with
Have a Triton Thames Dual Control and there have been no problems . The control/flow knob came off in hand and so I tried pushing it back into the spindle and it just won’t go back in properly and waggles around. I am not a total idiot and cannot see why this is case. The attached section from the manual mentions securing with a grub screw but I can’t see where that would be. Ultimately I can’t get the control/flow knob to secure and don’t know why. Please take a look at the photos attached and see if there is anything you can recommend. I am sure it is user error . Thanks in advance
Steve

Looks to me that the spindle and the part inside the handle has worn smooth so the grub screw wont get a hold. Maybe its been loose for a while and slowly worn away. The grub screw you mention is on the control lever. Marked 8 on the diagram. Push the handle on. Take out the grub screw from the lever. Tighten that onto the spindle then screw the lever onto what's left of the grub screw sticking out from the handle. Hope that makes sense.

Thank you Christopher. Much appreciated. So if the part in the first photo and the second photo are worn down it will mean new ones of both. Let’s hope Triton still have them. From your knowledge, the part in picture ‘A’ which is the main part / valve , is that something that is easily replaced/fitted. The knob in picture ‘B’ shouldn’t be any issues with( as long as Triton are still selling them ) thanks again

Make sure you're sitting down when you see the prices! The cartridge (inner bit with male splined spindle) is about £130, and the knob about £75.

If you unscrew the lever handle from the knob (the handle has three grooves at the end not attached to the knob) this should reveal the grub screw. These normally require a 2.0 or 2.5mm Allen key to tighten. You might be able to get it tight enough to get the knob to stay on.

you could try epoxying it on, but its permanent

If the thread is worn in part B such that the grub screw is slipping in the threads, could you file down a nut and slip it just inside the outer ring of the control handle perhaps? Or is the handle plastic and too weak to take this kind of 'abuse'? Assuming Christopher Buzzard is right, and that this is the 'grub screw'?:

That is the grub screw that you are pointing at but i ment the round bit in the centre of the handle has smoothed out as well as the spindle it pushes onto. It should have a series of slots, which when pushed on the spindle, it locates and grips against each other. You can then turn the spindle left and right. With it being smoothed out the handle will turn but not the actual spindle which turns hot or cold/on or off. The grub screw is only there so when tightened, the handle doesn't fall off.

Yes, looking at the pictures again, I see your point. I'd be very tempted to do a bit of engineering, were I the OP and if I had the skills, as otherwise Triton probably has him over a barrel.

Thanks all of you who commented. It’s a difficult one and I am considering using some Araldite ....
Yes the new handle and spindle are very expensive. Thanks for your advice re the grub screw. I am not sure if mine impacts on securing the handle to the spindle , it’s doesnt seem to come into contact with it.
