I wonder if someone can recommend me a new thermostat. Something cheap that I can just order online? I have a new wells mclain ultra indirect hotwater tank and the thermostat has givin me problems from the beginning. It would pop up err and i would need to reset power for it to restart but now just sits in err. This is a pic of the connections if someone could recommend me one I could order to replace? so much appreciated!

Being in the UK I'm not too familiar with Canadian electrics, but am concerned your photo shows a cable with Canadian mains colours (green-earth, white-neutral, and red-can be live), connected to terminals labelled 24Volts - namely a low voltage supply. I trust that brown sleeved flex is not mains? Assuming it isn't, could the source of the 24V be part of the problem?

I fear a typical thermostat is not going to be suitable for this application, you may have to get the exact replacement part for the tank, but first check, or get an electrician to check, it is wired correctly!

Was the thermostat new with the new hot water tank or was it fitted to the old tank?

If it's showing err(or) the most likely problem is the temperature probe that's connected to the top right on that printed circuit board and goes down into the hot water tank.
It's either faulty or by the looks of it the wires aren't fully in the connector.

It's 24volt and there will be a transformer mounted nearby.

If it is faulty the simplest way is to replace it with exactly the same model thermostat.

There's a video of someone fitting one on the link below,

Yeah it came with the tank for sure. I will check the probe wires to see. Thanks for the help

Hello all, I’m replacing a concrete paving slab patio in the back yard. The original patio used 50mm deep concrete slabs on hardcore & sand. I’m planning to pour a 100mm deep concrete patio on 100mm hardcore. In order to achieve the same final height to line up with the rest of the patio, I...

Hi, Can anyone advise as to why the cold water to my bathroom keeps airlocking? This originally happened about 12 months ago and has happened 3-4 times since. It’s an upstairs bathroom, fed from a tank in the attic. The tank is about 8 Meters away and feeds a bath, sink and toilet. The tank...

I was stupid enough not to check the position of the pipes under the tiles when installing a toilet and drilled right through the center of a 16 mm copper water pipe. I exposed the pipe by removing a ~30cm section of the plastic sleeve and a ~10 cm section of the pipe around the hole. Several...
