DIYDoctor | DIYnot | UltimateHandyman – DIY Plumbing Advice – Why it can be dodgy! – There are a lot of advice websites for DIYers out there. The advice is sought by DIY doing a project on their home. And it is provided by other DIYers that have done something similar in the past.
THE ADVICE IS NOT ALWAYS THE BEST ADVICE – Why?
Whilst some jobs carried out by DIY are okay. And then they pass on what they did to other homeowners doing up their bathrooms. We are seeing on our forums time and time again the jobs that went wrong. And they’re then being pushed away from the likes of DIYnot, DIYDoctor, and UltimateHandyman. Because they don’t want to hear about the repairs needed which often cost more than the job in the first place.
We don’t mind DIY coming to our forums. If you do, you get PROFESSIONAL QUALIFIED Plumbers, Electricians, Tilers, Plasterers, Floor-fitters, providing the advice to DIY.
We often even have manufacturers of products (like bathroom suites, boilers (not DIY by any stretch but an example) tiling tool cutters, adhesive brands, tool manufacturers – all on the forums too. To help specify your jobs.
I wish a lot of people found our forum BEFORE they found DIY-forums. DIY forums result in DIY jobs.
If you want to tile your bathroom, install a new sexy shower, move a plug socket, that kinda jazz. Come on TilersForums.com, PlumbersForums.net or ElectriciansForums.net – And speak to the 10’s of thousands of professional tradesmen who are willing to give up some of their time to help a DIYer not get it wrong.
We have 3 threads active now across the forums, where DIYnot, Ultimate Handyman, and DIYDoctor has given them advice, and it’s not to specifications of current building regs. And it wasn’t like the job needed to change much at all. The DIY products used, cost more to them as a DIYer than the correct products would have cost them as a member of our forums, because we get discounts from suppliers and manufacturers.
Please please dig around more! These DIY websites are good for painting advice. Anything more than that and you risk being the 1 in 10 that get the wrong advice. Nobody on the DIY websites are correcting the advice. Because they get shot down for trying to get people use actual products for the building trade rather than crappy JML-style 2am Advert-style products and tools that are good for nobody!
Rant over. 😀
