Pipe Capping? After Permanently Removing Radiator

Surely the easiest way is to just cleat the back of the hole with wood/screws and then screw the new piece to that.

Advice needed - 10mm system conversion?

1animal1 you're barking up the wrong tree listening to Mr Diy, he clearly doesn't do this for a living. An unvented cylinder will easily outperform a combi. What system you size and spec will depend on your intended usage and size of your house etc. Eg if you had a very big house, you could...

Advice needed - 10mm system conversion?

Combination boilers serve a purpose a bit like an electric shower (when needs must), good for a flat or a small 2 bed house maybe. But the carcass will be in 15mm pipe for a start. Unvented cylinder will be at least 22mm distribution and larger for a big property. Also a combination boiler...

Advice needed - 10mm system conversion?

No sorry but you can't compare a combination boiler with a pressurised cylinder. You are right that you need ample pressure to make unvented systems give good performance. At least 3 bar is OK. A combination boiler provides instantaneous hot water and in no way can be compared to the...

Advice needed - 10mm system conversion?

Efficiency is mostly down to your homes insulation and heat losses, also the type of system ie having appropriate controls for heating/hot water and using it efficiently. The last thing I'd consider important is 3% improved efficiency with a Worcester boiler over an ideal or a sealed system as...

    dffdtg ?

Re: Does original Hep2o pipe decompose? Well I'd suppose your probably right Best, it's not what I'd fit in my own house unless it was free lol but it should last plenty long enough. Long enough to be a paid job to put right haha

Advice needed - 10mm system conversion?

If your 10mm tails run back to manifolds then you could be in for more pipework than you bargained for. Also as Soul man pointed out, you would spend considerable time and money chasing out and making good to fit 15mm tails. If you live in an energy efficient new build house with small rads...

    dffdtg ?

Re: Does original Hep2o pipe decompose? Old Hep pipe had a 10 year guarantee only. New Hep barrier pipe has a 50 year guarantee. Air is causing your problem with corrosion. We carcass with Hep mostly, just in the floor bringing out copper tails. I think it's good stuff personally, easy to work...

    Fixing towel rails on plasterboard

We use toggles all the time when the chippys don't first fix some wood in there. Gotta be big ones though or they'll fail too quickly. Always better to screw to wood or block though. You can easily fix toggles/brollys without a gun. Use your impact driver whilst pressing the bracket against it...

noisy indirect cylinder when water circulating through coil?

I would point the problem at the air separator being clogged not keeping equilibrium between the cold feed and open vent to the primary circuit. So it's pumping over the vent or drawing air through the vent.

Bathroom Radiator via Hot water Cylinder

I know we don't have any TRV's in rooms with room-stat fitted (ie. hallway normally), but don't remember that being referred to as a heat sink rad. Only have a level 2 textbook, but thanks for reminding me I really need to purchase a level 3 book and get reading up on it!

Bathroom Radiator via Hot water Cylinder

OK so please enlighten me. I know that they are needed for solid fuel appliances due to lack of thermostatic controls for your stored hot water. When else might we use them then? Cheers!

Bathroom Radiator via Hot water Cylinder

Ok but obviously maintaining the abv being the closest back to the boiler on the circuit?

Bathroom Radiator via Hot water Cylinder

So what would you do if you had your boiler right next to an unvented cylinder?

Bathroom Radiator via Hot water Cylinder

My posts don't show right away, so the op posted back before my post was visible. Yes the auto bypass valve is for that but what if the pipework to the abv was too short to provide a usable flow/return temp difference?
