    Hot weather causing smelly bathroom

Hi, In anyone's experience, does hot weather have an impact upon air admittance valves? We have an AAV in out WC (see photo) and in the hot weather the bathroom stinks of sewage. Any ideas of what could be causing this? Thanks

Mouldy / Rotten smell around boiler

Hi All, Slightly strange query - there is a strong mouldy/rotting smell that seems to the coming from our boiler. The smell has been around for 2/3 weeks so do not think it is a dead mouse. The smell also slightly comes from the bathroom tap when we turn the hot water on. From exposing the...

    Water supply pipe joint fixing

    Water supply pipe joint fixing

We recently had a leak in the water supple pipe between an external water meter and the where the pipe enters the building. The leak occurred where the pipe ran underneath the entrance walkway (about 600-700mm deep). Once we excavated and found the leak, we found it was at a joint in the pipe...

    Grey Water pipe size?

Ok, thanks. The pipe is going to be re-run to provide a greater fall and reduce the number of bends. Hopefully this will reduce the likelihood of it block again. All advice appreciated.

    Grey Water pipe size?

Hi all, I have a grey water waste pipe which keeps getting blocked. The pipe is 50mm, and connected to it is a W/M, D/W, 3 x sinks and shower/bath. Should the waste pipe be larger than 50mm, and is this the reason why it keeps getting blocked? Any advice much appreciated.

    Faulty stopcock in new build

Thanks all. I am not too fussed on the exterior condition of the stopcock, more the reason why it failed (and whether it's corrosion had any impact on why it failed). From all your inputs, I would conclude it is to do with over tightening of the nut, or just a cheap part (although even cheap...

    Faulty stopcock in new build

It is beneath the sink. The feed runs about 2m to get to the boiler. There is a DW and WM either side of the sink, so there would be hot water feeds running at some points, although the area doesn't generally feel warm.

    Faulty stopcock in new build

Would a stopcock thats only 5 months old have that much corrosion on it? Cheers

    Faulty stopcock in new build

No, the nut at the top was a new nut the plumber used when replacing the broken (photographed) stopcock. The bottom nut (with crack in) was the previous nut. Thanks

    Faulty stopcock in new build

Evening all, I moved into a new build flat about 2 months ago and last week the nut on the stopcock broken and caused the water supply pipe to come completely loose, thus quite a big leak followed. Looking at the stopcock that broke (photo attached) I believe a secondhand/faulty stopcock was...
