Least worst way to plumb in new sink waste

I wouldn’t even think about cutting a boss into a soil bend, I would walk away from a job if someone wanted me to do that. Think I’m far to professional but more of a worrier 😆

Macdee Metro 3 part syphon 10.5"

The inlet valve looks like a Torbeck, available from most plumbing suppliers, Dudley Hydroflow is what I would use, available from Screwfix. Try toiletspares.co.uk for the syphon, they sell the replacement membrane for the Metro. https://www.toiletspares.co.uk/macdee-syphons.html

    Surestop water switch.

I won’t fit these anymore, been to properties and seen them leaking, also at least 5 not working (i didn’t install these) I fitted one in line type and not long after the customer turned it off and it wouldn’t switch on again. Rang Surestop about this and they were not interested

I would stick to thinking out aloud and gas 😧 😂

I'm working on the forum over the next few weeks

There seems to be far too many different sections, I think some could be grouped together, for example plumbing advice could be grouped together with DIY plumbing forum seeing as both sections have non plumbers asking for advice. I’ve noticed many non plumbers coming onto this forum asking for...

Window seal and gaps need filling too cold

Is there a window fitters forum with a window fitters tools section? 😆 Just a thought 😀

    Can increase and reduce

I’ve read this about 5 times and very confused, not sure what this “4 port manifold“ is (apart from something used on heating as mentioned above) I have never used a “4 port manifold“ under a kitchen sink in 30 years as a plumber. Just use 15mm pipe and fittings to connect everything. Hot pipe...

Best advise for meter box repair

I bought meter box cover & over box, i did the gas and electric boxes. Remove the door from the existing box and this box cover goes over the top. Available on Amazon, eBay etc, easy to find on Google. Before and after photos below. Edit - see post above for link

    Is an external drain-off sensible?

I had to fit an outside drain off recently on a system, i had 2 dark colour rads to fit that the customer had supplied, they had also bought matching valves and short pipes the same colour, pipes designed to go from the valves to the floor. Soldering a tee and drain off into the spray painted...

    Is an external drain-off sensible?

If I have to drain down a heating system and find an outside drain off I think it’s my lucky day 😃

    What type of valve?

Self cutting valve as mentioned above, but probably used for an outside tap. Supplied with one of those nasty DIY outside tap kits with a green hose. I would remove it along with the flexi pipe.

How do I access the cistern in this vanity unit??

I would bet on the flush pipe cone leaking

    Pipe slice container?

I use a Stanley toolbag for my everyday tools, the bag has various pockets and one is perfect for a 15 and 22 pipeslice to fit in the pocket together

I have a cracked 1.5" pipe elbow going into a 4" main drain under basement floor. How do I fix this?

Many thanks for the reply. As mentioned I didn’t think I had seen the pipe design before.
