Hi,
Please could you advise on how to turn OFF my Tempest boiler? It is on all the time. If i switch off the switches in the boiler cupboard, the boiler does not go OFF.
Please advise on how to turn it off so i can only turn it on say 20 mins before i go to have a shower in the morning?

Thanks, though i did that last night, and this morning, the water is still very hot, and the pipes coming out of the boiler are still hot.
I am wondering if the only way i will be able to turn off this boiler is to flick the breaker at the fuse box in the flat?

is the red light on the left hand side of the programer also will take a while to cool down as the cylinder is still warm

Thanks for getting back, the red LED is OFF (since 14 hours ago). The boiler pipes and water temperature hasnt cooled down at all from yesterday, 14 hours ago, when i turned the Myson off with the select switch.

From previous experience, even removing power from the myson "hot water advance" unit doesnt turn off the boiler. I wonder if the landlord has pranged it so it cant be turned off, just in case someone has it off in a cold winter, and risks burst pipes?

I hate it when landlords can't be bothered to provide tenants with written instructions on how their installations should be used.

Turn both heating and hot water off on the timer

Make sure both leds are off does the boiler fire up at all throughout the day ?

Hi, yes both of those are off...and have been for at least 14 hours........the heating has always been off.
Both leds are off
Yes the boiler is always ON.
As discussed, it seems impossible to switch it off. I think i will have to just flick the breaker in the flat's fuse box?

The pictures show a Landis & Gyr ultraheat xs heat meter.
I think there may be a communal heating scheme for the building.
This would account for hot pipes that can't be turned off! Particularly if something is up with one of the Myson valves.

Boilerboy - you are entitled to instructions for the system. You could try asking other tenants around!

Sheffield is known for district heating schemes for some 6000 dwellings.

You haven’t accidentally turned the immersion on follow no 4 parts wire back up where it goes if it goes to a fused spur this should be off

The wire from the immersion heater goes into the plastic conduit that goes up the wall in the boiler cupboard. I can't trace it without ripping this conduit off.

Unfortunately i cant ask my neighbours. This is a student only flat, and i am the only non-student here. The students objected to me being here because they feel unsafe if they live in a flat which might have non undergraduate students in it. They want it to be an all (undergraduate) student place. They feel safe being with other undergrads who they feel wont be robbers/weirdo's etc etc. So i cant ask anyone here. The student who had my flat before me left due to covid.

is there a problem with me just flicking the breaker off.?..(then on again say 20 mins before i want a shower)

Try turning 8 off does that turn the programmer off ?

Turning 8 off doesnt turn the programmer off....turning 7 off does turn the programmer off. But i used to always have 7 and 8 off...but it still didnt turn the boiler off....the pipes are well hot and the water well hot too.

I must admit im not familiar with this "communal heating scheme" idea. Maybe thats what it is though.....but my electricity useage seems to tell me that the boiler is drawing a few kwh per day.

Leave 8 off and make sure the programmers is off run a hot bath should cool down
