John Sydney / Bristan Mixer Identification

Hi,

I'm struggling for months to get help on identifying a shower mixer. Bristan just say they are busy for months. Can anyone help me identify the type of mixer? We think it is an 06734b. We are not sure. If we try and chance it our plumber says we will be without hot and cold water and would need to replace the whole shower. Any help would be appreciated.

1. You could try showerdoc, send them your photographs and they are usually very good at getting back to you with make and model, and can generally supply what you need.
2. You could go through the list and try and find images to help identify what you have got.
3. You could remove the existing cartridge and see what it looks like, and whether it really is 06734b. Provided it is properly removed I can't see why it can't be put back, even if it doesn't work properly, to restore water.

I tried shower doc and suggested I think it is that one and they came back and said they think so too. I trued a google search against all on your link. Good idea. Thanks. Did not find one that looked like that. I think it is quite old the shower. Annoyingly the old owner of the house left every bit of paperwork under the sun apart from the showers.

My plumber said normally it is due to the seals going to he thinks he cannot put it back once removed. Could be a palaver and a new bathroom as this think is fully tiled in so would have to take all the tiles off and we do not have spares so will probably end up redoing the bathroom if that is the way it goes. Eeeep!

My plumber says he cannot easily remove it and is concerned I will be without water for days if it is the wrong part. Unfortunately leaving me with a wild goose chase to find the part first. There is not much he can do as he and I do not know much about the shower.

Worst case is you cant get a part. If that's the case then them mosaic tiles around the shower will come off, new shower in and make good.

Have you not had the chrome backplate off to see if theres any identification on the actual shower valve?

Sounds like maybe your plumber just wants an easy life.

We tried to pop the plate off but it is like they have sealed it in. He said when he is over to change the part he is going to slice it then pop it off. So Plumber Doctor has come back and said he definitely thinks it is the 06734b. Am going to order it and get him in to fix the shower. As you say might have to take off those mosaic tiles and try and find some replacement ones as a worst case scenario. I am not a fan of the bathroom so any excuse to change the lot. The Mr is not happy at the prospect of spending what he says is about 10k or so to make it nicer. Hmmm

Looks like the 06734B to me. That cart can be removed and put back in without any issue. If the problem is lack of hot water then it is even more likely to be that cart as that is a common problem.
Only issue is removing the nut that retains the cart, correct size socket is best as it is easy to round the nut off.
You can get the 06734B at Screwfix for £36.99 inc VAT, they refer to it as a 9864J.
