Ideal water temperature

Just moved in to my first house and have a new combi boiler, a Ferroli i29.

Was just looking round online to see what ideal water temperature should be. Many say that 60 degrees is ideal, but I can't set mine above 55 degrees.

Is 55 fine? I read that anything under 50 is a danger.

I think you are thinking 60 degrees for stored hot water .
Your combi doesn't store water and will give you more than 35 degrees above whatever the temp of the incoming water is , ie 8 degrees coming in off the water main will give you 43 at the hot tap , assuming everything is working ok .

I thought all hot water had to exceed 60c at some point before use to combat naughty bugs

Yes stored water , this Ferroli is just a basic combi .
