hi,

I had my house renovated about 2 years ago. When the new boiler and megaflo system was installed we couldn’t test the heating as it was a particularly hot summer so I agreed with the builders that they could come back and test it in the winter. When I started using the central heating. Well 2 years on the builder still hasn’t come back and I’m stuck with a central heating system which doesn’t work properly. In short some of the radiators are not heating up. I have a megaflo water system and a Vaillant 637 boiler. I’m running a underfloor heating system and 13 radiators. Now the underfloor heating is working fine but the radiators aren’t. The radiators on the upper floor work fine bar 2 which are furthest from the boiler on the opposite side of the house and none of the ground floors ones heat up properly. Before this winter I tried the usual like topping up the water and removing air but that didn’t help. Then I spoke to someone and they asked if the system had been balanced. Well it turns out it wasn’t because some of the valves were completely off on the radiators which didn’t work so I balanced the system with some YouTube videos. This helped a little in that the radiators which were completely cold before balancing were now either luke warm or warm with one being quite hot. However I’m still not getting the heat I should. I spoke to one plumber today who said I need a Grundfos pump at a cost of £300 plus labour. Another plumber came and checked and said the wrong boiler was installed for the system. A third is suggesting balancing the system again as the boiler is correct and it already has a pump which should be sufficient. I’m at my wits end as to what do. If there is anyone who can help it would be greatly appreciated. Also forgot to mention the underfloor heating has it’s own grundfos pump. I could end up spending a fortune if none of the engineers are not sure if it’s the solution.

Any pictures of the install ? If installed correctly there's no reason why this should not work . Kop

I would turn off a few of the radiators that were getting hot and see if this heats up the ones that weren’t getting hot. If they start to heat up then it would point to either a balancing or pipe sizing issue.

Hey Stu did you get the pics?

thanks for your reply. The radiators started working a little after I balanced them and yesterday I tested like you suggested turning off the ones that do work. 1 of them got quite hot and the other 2 were warm at the bottom but like warm at the top. Bearing in mind I balanced the system so could it be I haven’t done it properly?

It is possible you haven’t balanced it properly. The two that got Luke warm at the top try opening there valves fully
